every once in awhile when i notice lots of new blog readers, i stroll down memory lane and share photos from the blog’s humble beginnings. today’s the perfect day to recap when oscar and ollie joined our family and how oscar got his fridays with oscar gig that’s a become a weekly favorite.
many of you might not know oscar started life as a rescue pup after his mother suddenly died. the litter was scooped up by milo’s foundation and scattered to foster homes around the bay. christmas 2014 oscar was looking for a human who would give him a home and some love. good thing as mr. style and i were looking for a pup after our beloved english bulldog’s heart gave out. some thought we were crazy to share our two bedroom apartment with a large breed dog. but that was our humble abode in san francisco.
can you believe i could carry this guy in my arms?
from the beginning, oscar would tag along on photo shoots. mr. style snapped his pic to chronicle his growth. look at those ears. he’s never quite grown into them. but i wouldn’t have it any other way.
then one day i floated a photo of oscar on instagram. it was an instant hit! the next week everyone asked where that cute puppy was? and a blog series was born – fridays with oscar.
this is one of my favorite photos. oscar hamming it up big time.
loved those days on the streets of san francisco! but then mr. style and i moved cross country to our new home in georgia. let me be the first to tell you oscar loves to patrol his yard and let those pesky deer know who’s the boss. he even roots for the georgia bulldogs now and then. go dawgs!
and from time-to-time, he’ll get into the holiday spirit (or try to).
but i was convinced oscar needed a friend. and so the search began. cat or dog?
well, a cat won hands down. oscar meet ollie, a maine coon kitten.
now i have two helpers come the holidays.
the word helper is used loosely around here. kind of like when my kiddos were little.
as you can see these two are quite the buds. ollie is a great addition to our family and keeps oscar on his toes! isn’t that what friends are supposed to do? thanks so much for strolling down memory lane with us today. it’s friday, gang, let the good times roll. but before we go oscar, ollie, and i wish each of you a lovely weekend.

So adorable!! Thanks for sharing the sweet pics and story of your family friends!!
What a great photo story! Thanks for giving us a look at your private side!
Simply the best! Love seeing Oscar and Ollie. Very heartwarming! I own a Maine Coon cat also and they are beautiful. They call them the Gentle Giants. She loves to chase the dogs. Thanks Beth for sharing your pets lives.
Lovely picttures¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Thanks for sharing, the last one are beautiful¡¡¡¡¡
As you know, Beth, I am a long time reader of your wonderful blog. I look forward to seeing my buddies Oscar and Ollie and love the photos from earlier posts. There are so many adorable photos and they certainly put a smile on my face. Have a great weekend!
Aw!
I’ve been enjoying your blog for awhile now and Fridays are always my favourite posts 🙂 I just noticed that Oscar’s grey pull toy in the second photo is the same as our Lab’s. We call it Mr. Skinny (the toy, the dog is definitely not skinny!) And I love how Ollie also has large ears – must be a family trait 🙂
Awwwww…they look very sweet together. Oscar is so polite, and he appears to be a good older brother. Hope you all have a relaxing weekend–fun to watch them grow up together.
Awww… SO cute! Oscar’s expression looking at you as if to say, “Are you sure we did the right thing, Mommy?” Thanks for posting! xo
The Milo Foundation is a wonderful organization thats saved thousands of dogs and cats in Northern California. Thank you so much for promoting rescue over buying from a pet shop. Both Oscar and Ollie are very handsome too! I have two very loved but spoiled cavaliers from Cavalier Rescue USA!
What a fun post. Loved the photos of your two sweethearts. They certainly are a very handsome twosome! German Shepherds and Maine Coons are beautiful animals…
what wonderful children. Who would ever have thought that Oscar would be such a style follower. Just waiting for him to be sponsored to style his thunder jackets.
Oscar was such a cute puppy! I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane seeing Oscar mature. I bet he takes good care of his mama. I believe our pets make us better people and we get so much love back from them. Enjoy your weekend.
