Happy Friday, gang! If you have a sweet tooth, you’re gonna love today’s post. What’s better than hot chocolate with a dessert charcuterie board to boot?! Yes, I’m doubling down on chocolate today so prepare to indulge. Both are easy to have on hand, prepare and serve. And we all want easy this time of year!
Oscar, Ollie, and I have been enjoying our new digs downstairs. It’s been so nice to crank the fireplace and have a rosy glow throughout the room, especially when watching TV at night. I didn’t realize how much I missed having a working fireplace! It kicks out quite a bit of heat which hopefully will lower my heating bill ‘cuz gas prices are sky-high this year and everything else. When I went to the grocery store, I noticed the price of heavy cream has nearly doubled since the beginning of the year. Yikes! I will enjoy every last drop of the whipped cream on top of my hot chocolate…
Today’s ootd is perfect for a casual Christmas party or Christmas brunch. Pops of color always brighten my day. It’s been a bit gloomy in this neck of the woods the past few days, so it’s time to go for bold, bright colors. And I love to look festive this time of year. Time for a colorful striped sweater (limited sizes similar here, here, and here) from Anthropologie paired with a red velvet blazer from Talbots. Don’t be shy about owning a red or velvet blazer. There are multiple times to wear one besides a holiday party. Last week I wore it with red velvet pants from J.Crew this week, it’s a pair of humble blue jeans (old, similar here). In both cases, I decided to wear red shoes (affordable options here and here) with a rhinestone buckle from Frances Valentine to add a hint of sparkle.
This dessert charcuterie board is so easy to put together. All of my favorites from Trader Joe’s are on hand. Yogurt Pretzels, chocolate-covered blueberries, pirouettes, chocolate-covered toffee, peanut butter cups, chocolate-covered marshmallows, and chocolate wafers. Two flavors of cocoa from Starbucks are on hand, classic and peppermint, and chocolate stir sticks from Williams Sonoma. Didn’t I tell you this was easy to put together?

I LOVE your outfit! You have to feel joy while wearing that. I love red and pink together. I wish I could wear that sweater but since menopause hit, only light sweaters, mostly cashmere for this girl. I also love the Dessert Charcuterie Board. What a great idea. I plan on making this Christmas Eve. As always, Oscar looks extremely handsome!
You’re knocking it out of the park with the pinks and reds this holiday season. Just gorgeous combinations!
You look so cheerful in that pretty outfit. Hello Oscar. This all looks so festive and some of my favorites there. Mama always made us hot cocoa with marshmallows. Brings back memories.
Merry Christmas, Beth!
I always love seeing Oscar. Today’s red blazer and all that chocolate goodness is right up my alley.
Hello, you look fabulous today. I love the festive colors and the party shoes with your jeans look great. Pats to Oscar and Ollie. Thanks for your blog.
Happy Friday Beth. I love the desert board! I am not doing any holiday baking this year as I don’t have enough will power around home baked sweets . I would love to have a few neighbors over for a cocktail (or hot chocolate) and this board would be a wonderful option for an after dinner cocktail and treat evening. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday.
Lovely, especially the shoes and sweater. Not really a holiday sweater but yet, you made it one in the best of ways. Happiest of Holidays, Beth. Love, Shelley
How delicious Beth
Is 80 degrees where I live, not fun
Outfit is very pretty also.
I am very glad that you have your fire place!!
Mary Christmas for you and your lovely family
Natural Gas prices have plunged down 40% so you will soon be happy. Our New England oil is up a lot so we will freeze this winter.
Thanks, Beth, easy to put together with your help! The board looks delicious.
Love the Talbots’ velvet blazer; was thinking about buying one with the 50% sale on now.
Really like Fridays with Oscar too ~
Love the colors and the pieces in this outfit. I’d wear it too brunch too!
I’m 5foot 3 with a decent bust, so I think the stripes would be left at the store for me. I don’t want to appear shorter or bustier than I am and horizontals always shorten and widen a person’s torso.
It would either be a navy sweater with my gorgeous red blazer or those divine neutrals you showed the other day. Happy Christmas.
You look so pretty Beth! I LOVE your outfit. Bright colors are my thing. I have a red velvet blazer and would scoop up that great sweater if it weren’t WOOL! So bummed! Love it. Love Anthropologie and it’s great that your blog gives us slightly older gals fabulous ideas for hip clothes. (I know that’s the idea!). Thanks so much! Inspiring and happy. So glad you’re enjoying the new fireplace. We put an order in 2 months ago for a replacement for our gas fireplace. They couldn’t even give us a date for delivery. Looks certain it won’t be here by Christmas! Oh well! Happy Christmas week!
