the seasons are changing and my front porch too. can you believe tomorrow ushers in the autumn equinox? at a precise time in september, the sun appears directly above the equator marking the exact time of the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere. lucky you if your state got the memo in time and your weather is cooperating with cooler temps. after a long, hot, rainy summer this girl is ready for the sights and sounds of autumn. college football (go Dawgs!) is already in full swing, apple cider and pumpkins are making their appearance, and the vibrant color scheme of falling leaves will soon follow. as much as i love summer, i think it’s time to embrace all things fall. and my porch agrees!
oscar is on hand to lend a helping gardening paw. so out go the geraniums and in go the mums! it’s time to plant the window boxes. the trailing coleus got a haircut and the english ivy too. can you believe the stores haven’t received their shipment of pumpkins? we’ll have to add those in one by one. but overall the porch is whipping into shape. take a peek.
love these garden shoes by sloggers. they’re waterproof and have an all-day comfort insole. plus, the lug sole is excellent for traction on slippery surfaces like my front porch. at the end of the day, all i have to do is hose off or wipe down with a wet towel. this gardening toolset has ergonomic handles which help my arthritic hands get a good grip. and i love the ease of the tote bag that stores all my tools when not in use.
one of my favorite porch decorations – the witch is in.
new fall wreath.
isn’t this skeleton adorable? he’s 4′ high and stands on his own. i couldn’t resist adding him to my porch decorations.
the perfect weekend tee.
happy friday, happy fall, oscar and i wish each of you a lovely weekend!

You look so cute in those shorts! I have those exact gardening clogs and love them! I bought them because it rains so much up here on the northwest coast and I just slip them on when I have to take Sadie out. I have even worn them on walks in the woods in rainy days because they are easy to clean. Have a good weekend!
aren’t these clogs the best?! i regularly trudge around the yard wearing them. it’s so easy to slip them on and off and we never have to worry about mud! xo
Fall may well be my favorite season. (Although I admit I love living where we do experience all 4 seasons–I’d miss any of them if I lived somewhere that never changed.) Cute t-shirt. And your porch is coming along beautifully with Oscar’s discriminating help. Have a great weekend!
four seasons is a must! we live far enough south to enjoy the seasons changing without the snow. win/win. xo
The chrysanths are looking very nice. Oscar has one of the most lovely vibes that I have seen in a dog in a long time and I used to breed dogs eons ago ( not GSD but had a lot to do with them). He could buy a plane ticket and come to live here any time
awww, that’s such a sweet compliment. thank you! and it’s true, oscar has a sweet disposition. xo
Your porch looks wonderful and so ready for the fall. Oscar is happy to be of assistance while Ollie is probably taking a nap indoors! I love the black and white striped planters – you certainly know how to decorate.
hi rebecca! it’s so good to hear from you. hope all is well in NYC. aren’t these planters adorable? they were my spring splurges. xo
