guests are coming to dinner. and one is gluten-free. so i’ve searched recipes near and far and came up with eggroll in a bowl. a one dish wonder that’s already a family favorite. cocktails were next on my mind, and i finally decided on the ritz cocktail which was created in homage to the Champagne cocktails served at the Paris Ritz.
time to head to the store before our guests arrive. there are a few ingredients i need to whip up dinner and cocktails. fresh cabbage, ground turkey and maraschino liqueur. i had no idea maraschino liqueur even existed. the things i learn writing the blog.
shorts | tee | jacket | sandals | similar handbag
these adorable watermelon print shorts with a 7″ inseam were scored at Talbots Friends & Family sale. a cute ombre striped tee is perfect for a casual ootd. but i popped on a lightweight cotton jacket to add spit and polish while i run errands. a pink wicker handbag (old, similar here) adds a little summer fun. and old school jack rogers sandals made famous by jackie kennedy complete the look.
placemats | napkins | bowls | plates | glasses
be forewarned. looks can be deceiving with this eggroll in a bowl dish. even mr. style was skeptical at first. but guess who asked for seconds? this recipe is a keeper. it’s quick and easy to make with five healthy ingredients, gluten-free and is delicious.
oscar is on hand watching the deer. there’s never a moment to relax when they’re near.
martini glass | bar shaker | bar accessories | tray
the ritz cocktail is refreshing. perfect for a warm summer night. it was designed as a tribute to the Champagne cocktails once served at the Paris Ritz.
the Talbots tee has a patch of authenticity at the lower left corner. reminiscent of the original st. james breton tees.

Hi Beth! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE seeing your tablescapes! Thank you for another one! I also love seeing you FWO and the recipes! This looks like a great one – gonna try it this weekend! I also love how you paired the vertical stripes in the shorts (that blend into looking like a solid) with the horizontal stripes in this red to pink tee shirt! Another great idea!
aww, you noticed the subtle pattern mix. good eye! friday is my favorite day of the week thanks to oscar and a delicious recipe. so happy you are enjoying the posts. xo
Love Friday’s with Oscar!! I plan to make Eggroll in a Bowl and I’m wondering if amount of ground turkey is 1 lb.
hi colleen! the recipe calls for 1 pound ground beef or turkey. the recipe has been edited with the correct amount. yo will love this dish. thanks! xo
Hey Beth, thanks for all your great ideas for life and style! I don’t always comment but always appreciate your site. 🌹

Hi Beth, I would really like to try the egg roll in a bowl, but I am a little confused about the amount of turkey, Is the that supposed to say 1 3/4 pound? Thanks for the clarification.

this recipe is a keeper, marcia! thanks so much for stopping by. xo
I’m also confused about the weight if the meat. Is it 1 1/4 pounds or 1 3/4 pounds?
it’s 1 pound of ground beef or turkey. the recipe has been updated with the proper amount. xo
Never mind I just saw your response to Susan. By the way I just love your Oscar, I always look forward to Friday’s with Oscar. ❤️
As always, you look great, relaxed and ready for Friday night entertaining. I am going to try both recipes. Not sure about the egg roll in a bowl but as I love egg rolls we will try it as a weeknight dinner for us, then maybe on guests.
I made the Tostada recipe from a few weeks ago and my guests loved it. Love to entertain and easy is the way to go.
Hi Beth. I really love getting your email and really look forward to Friday with Oscar. He is gorgeous! I have two GSDs myself, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why you don’t have dog fur all over you??! lol
I am definitely going to try this recipe this weekend. Thanks so much!!
Hey Beth the recipe looks great. Just one comment. If your friend is gluten free due to celiacs soy sauce is not typically gluten free. Use tamari sauce or gluten free soy sauce. I love your blog and have been following it for 2 years. You have really upped my game style
good tip! i bought a gluten-free soy sauce just for the dinner party. now i’ll always have it on hand. xo
I really think a cookbook is in order…we need all these wonderful ideas in one place!
Hi Beth: I always love your tips and style ideas. So easy to make my own. If you feel the turkey looks a little blonde, try putting the soy sauce on it when sautéing. It can help the color and make the dish a little more interesting.
Sounds good–I eat gluten free ever since I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, and I know I’d like this. I have had issues trying to leave comments lately, but always enjoy your posts! Have a great weekend!
I don’t tan anymore since I’ve learned the danger of the sun. I’m not that comfortable wearing shorts anymore. Unfortunately I have sun damage. Do you have any tricks for helping your legs look better in shorts. You always look very nice in your shorts. I have a closet full of shorts, but just don’t feel comfortable with my white sun damaged legs.
I have become a Talbot’s fan thanks to you. I have order several things to take to Florida with me.
Beth, how do you store your purses for easy access? Because of your blog I am updating and adding purses. I don’t have room for shelving.
