anyone else ready for friday?! yes, it’s been a long week. but the weekend is in sight. and my best buddy is ready to get friday underway. kind of. it seems everyone in the djalali house is a bit sluggish today.
but the show must go on. and i have an adorable gingham jean jacket from Talbots that i’ve been dying to wear. with chilly temps on deck, it’s the perfect third layer. and it’s gingham! ’nuff said. there’s a little pattern mixing going on with gingham and stripes. it’s a soft and subtle contrast especially since my chambray skirt (old, similar here and here) anchors the outfit. a pair of platform blue espadrilles from Circus by Sam Edelman are the perfect spring shoe choice. along with my snazzy new wicker handbag.
i have a feeling this gingham jacket will work overtime. the temps have been all over the place this week. spring is such a fickle season!

if there’s one kitchen gadget, i reach for time, and again it’s the Instant Pot. especially when mr. style has a hankering for goulash. most recipes take hours to make. so if you’re pressed for time like me, this little beauty makes life so much easier. dinner was ready in thirty minutes. i kid you not!
all the ingredients for an Instant Pot pasta dish.
tomato paste in a tube is handier than from the can. most recipes call for just a tablespoon or two. before i discovered the tube, i would scoop the remaining paste from the can and transport to a baggy. not exactly ideal. with tomato paste in a tube, you don’t have that problem. tomato sauce in a box is just as handy.
red wine and pasta. does it get any better? add a salad, and this meal is good to go.
oscar is gearing up for his weekly gig.
maybe not.
hmmm? will treats help his attitude?

hi margaret! of course! nothing better than sharing a recipe or two. xo
Have a lovely weekend too, Beth! Love the gingham jacket and seeing Oscar and Ollie. It’s dreary here in Pennsylvania so it’s hard for me to get
going too! Love your style and spirit! And all your recipes!
hi cindy! thanks so much for stopping by. i’m so happy to hear you are loving the recipes. i love to cook when i have the time and there’s nothing better than sharing a delicious recipe. xo
Great outfit. I’m lusting after it. I love how you mix patterns. I wish I had more confidence in that area. No instant pot so sadly won’t be partaking in this nice recipe. ;-(
if you like pattern mixing start with something small like a polka dot scarf and striped blouse. just a thought! xo
Look forward to your posts each day. I think I missed you yesterday. Lookin sweet in the check jacket! By the way love the boat pic over the mantle. May I ask where you purchased? Have a great restful weekend.
hi mary anne! the boat painting is from Ballard Designs. i believe it’s still available. xo
Thanks for the share…I love that picture. Great outfit and …pets! 😉
Cute outfit and love the kids. Can you use a different meat in the goulash, I don’t eat sausage (it doesn’t like me)
hi anne! of course, that’s the great thing about a recipe it can be tweaked to your liking. xo
You look fantastic and refreshing! I look forward to seeing you on Fridays and getting ideas for my look.
Thank you for being and inspiration!!!
Love your outfit especially the gingham jacket. Oscar and Ollie are probably sleepy from the rain. Crazy weather in the South. Have a great weekend!
hi susan! friday is my favorite day of the week and i think it’s oscar’s too. and you’re right about the crazy weather. it can change on a dime. xo
Thank you Beth for the easy to print recipe. I have used your recipes before and always like them. Love your blog!
hi carole! i’m so happy to hear you’ve tried the recipes. i love to cook and there’s nothing better than sharing a delicious dish. xo
You look terrific. I really like the check and stripes together. Is it that they both have the same colour blue that makes this work so well? And may I ask, in the first photo in the back ground are some huge Easter eggs on what I assume is your dining room table. Those are great. Can you say where you go those? Thanks for doing these blog posts. i look forward to every one.
it definitely helps if the colors are simpatico when pattern mixing. it flows. the easter eggs are from GrandinRoad. aren’t they cute? go check this online company out. they always have fantastic seasonal items and great decorating ideas. xo
Hi Beth, Julie from England here but in Florida at the moment so I’m on the same time zone as yourself, so we are loving the warmer weather, here for four weeks so really happy as England is really cold at present. Hi Beth…I love Oscar. He’s gorgeous, but what about Ollie? I am a cat lover and would like to know more about him. his breed?
Looks like Maine Coon?
