hello, weekend! it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend here in athens. a bit warm, but that’s ok because the sun is shining again after a week of unseasonable rain showers. today we are wrapping up summer blockbuster week. we are featuring watermelon today, and we have a wonderful summertime cocktail and salad. and i am ready for the weekend with a fun graphic tee. looks like we are going pink for the weekend!
outfit of the day
today’s ootd is head to toe J.Crew, with the exception of my self-tie belt from Anthropologie. graphic tees are a summertime go-to for me. and this one is my current favorite. mostly because it’s a nice soft shade of pink. with my casual tee, i have button fly white straight jeans; these are a dream to wear, they’re thin but not too thin. they have a great amount of stretch, so they are very comfortable.
ballet flats complete the outfit, these are red with a hot pink cap toe. (this pair appear to be sold out, here are two alternatives: woven smoking slipper and espadrilles.). don’t forget my self-tie woven belt! the hot pink threads run through the weave and add another layer of coordinated pinks. perfectly pink for the weekend!
summer blockbuster
today’s summertime blockbuster pick comes from my middle son. his favorite summer blockbuster is Terminator 2. T2 premiered in 1991. it’s an action/sci-fi movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. the sequel introduces a new Terminator, the T-1000, sent to kill Sarah Connor’s son before he can become the leader of the human resistance. the action ensues as the original Terminator (Schwarzenegger) is sent to protect John Connor. widely heralded as the best sequel ever made, T2 was directed by John Cameron and boasted new (at the time) technology in sound and special effects.
cool watermelon feta salad
watermelon is our main ingredient this week, continuing our pink for the weekend theme. this recipe is great for a hot summer day. it’s so simple, it’s hardly a recipe! our three-ingredient salad is dressed with lime juice and olive oil. it’s so refreshing and would be a great snack or lunch too.
place cubed watermelon on a tray or shallow bowl. top with feta, serrano peppers, lime juice and olive oil

the refreshing sandia smash
the sandia smash is a great alternative to a margarita. muddled watermelon with elderflower liquor, tequila, simple syrup, and lime juice make up this cocktail. you could leave out the liquor altogether and add sparkling water for a refreshing mocktail.
6 watermelon chunks, 3 of which are for the garnish
3/4oz fresh lime juice
1/4oz agave nectar, or simple syrup
1/2oz elderflower liqueur
2oz blanco tequila
Instructions
In a cocktail shaker, muddle 3 watermelon chunks. Add ice and the lime juice, agave nectar, St-Germain and blanco tequila and shake well. strain into glasses, garnish with skewered watermelon chunks
Category:cocktail, mocktail

Hello Beth,
You Look so great in this combination and I Fell in love with your ballerina shoes! I like Pink so much and the colour in combination with red let look so young and stylish! Thank you, greetings from Austria
Recently had a watermelon margarita that was excellent. Look forward to trying your recipe. Your blog gives me a sense of normalcy in these crazy times and I thank you for that. You look great, Beth, and you are an inspiration to all of us in how not only to be stylish, but how to carry on through adversity. 🥰 🙏
Fantastic “Fridays With Oscar” blog! It’s definitely summertime and thanks to you, summer 2020 has seen me wear brighter colors now and then, AND, (drumroll!), shorts! Bermudas, but shorts nonetheless. Today’s recipe is interesting for this watermelon purist. It, along with Blog Sister Stephney’s cracked black pepper and balsamic vinegar on hers, have got me rethinking my purist ways. And the use of Israeli Feta? Sold! Ending the week and starting the weekend with pics of you and Oscar and Pax makes for a fantastic blog after such a fun week. Hi to private Ollie 🙂 ~
Almost Upstaged by a beautiful Oscar and a cute puppy. If I could look this good in a simple tee and white pants, I’d be in heaven. Pink is becoming my favorite color. The pinks now are so pretty. I’m not a pastel fan so it’s great to see a pink that doesn’t look washed out or too deep in color. The shoes are so pretty and the tie in with the pink on the belt….perfection. You rock!
I have a similar recipe for watermelon and feta salad. Instead f peppers and olive oil. I just use cracked black pepper and drizzle on balsamic vinegar. So refreshing.
I love reading your blog for your style recommendations! We are the same age so can relate. As a Canadian elementary teacher I wonder who is doing your editing? I find the lack of punctuation distracts from the content of your blog.
as an American, i can totally relate to English teachers as i studied under my fair share through the years. if you are referring to the lack of capitalization that is a stylistic choice i made years ago churning out rough drafts that carried over to the blog. who knew back then that it would become so popular?! but if you are referring to punctuation marks such as commas, hyphens, and the lot we are spot-on as a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stanford proofreads the blog posts.
hopefully, the posts won’t get under your skin and you can tune into the fashion choices, etc… but i completely understand if the lack of capitalization bothers you.
You are so ready for the weekend! Cute outfit. Love the hot pink! I enjoyed all the Terminator movies and never have a problem looking at them again. SO fun. I know when the first Terminator came out, I wanted to see Scent of a Woman, and my teenage son, (at the time,) said he definitely didn’t want to see that, as he wanted to see Terminator. I didn’t really want to see that, but we wound up renting both-and we both loved both of them! It was a fun weekend and I have fond memories of that. So does my now grown son. The watermelon salad looks delicious–I have some watermelon and may just have to try that. Soooo refreshing! have a great weekend!
Love the outfit!! You always look great!!
And I always look forward to your Friday cocktail. I made this one tonight and it was wonderful!!
I am from a Omaha and it’s always fun to see hear your references to Omaha!
Another great look, Beth! Pink and red are so flattering and upbeat. J. Crew has a lot of cute graphic tees for summer. I went to my local store to look for one thing and walked out with three New England inspired tees. Super soft.
Love everything about this blog post! The salad recipe and the Sandia smash are saved. Your weekend tee is cute too. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Is Pax a new addition? Adorable!!
pax is jr. style’s puppy. he usually tags along on Fridays with Oscar.

Who is Pax? Is he a new friend of Oscars? If so welcome to you both. The name Pax in Latin means Peace.
