TGIF! Can’t believe Friday is knocking on our door once again! But I’m always happy to open the door wide and usher in the weekend. It’s been a busy week, so I can’t say I’m sorry that it’s time to slow down. The weather is back to being hot and hotter, with temps in the mid-nineties. Phew! Yours truly had a golf lesson last night and nearly wilted towards the end. Thankfully, the clouds rolled in and brought along a slight breeze the last ten minutes, and I made it to the finish line. I couldn’t wait to head home and hop in the shower! Sweat was dripping from every pore...
Has anyone been watching the Olympics? Of course, I loved watching Women’s Gymnastics and the Men’s too. Swimming, diving, equestrian events, and volleyball are always a favorite. Track and Field gets my attention, too. But I’m telling you, I’m always impressed with the Synchronized Swimming teams. Grace, beauty, and athleticism are all packaged together. How long can they hold their breaths? All I can say is Wowza! This year’s Games have been riddled with controversy from terrible sleeping conditions, questionable opening ceremonies, and Women’s boxing. I dunno, gang, 2024 is something else. But I’m gonna focus on all the talented athletes that showed up in Paris and give them a standing ovation. It’s hard to believe that the Closing Ceremonies are on Sunday. This week’s Message from Mom is all about the Paris Olympics. Join us!
Today, we are staying cool in the summer heat
Our outfits are shoppable via text and image widgets
We are making a Lambrusco Aperol Spritz and a Peach and Tomato Burrata Salad
Today’s outfit is easy breezy ‘cuz it’s Friday. Although I have to share August can be a challenge to not only slip into something cool and comfy but have said outfit available to shop. We’re not quite ready for fall items (outside of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) but summer inventory gets slim and slimmer from our favorite retailers…
I did my best by slipping into a pair of Seersucker Shorts (limited sizes similar here and here) and a Linen Top both from Talbots. At least the Madrid Buckle Sandals from Birkenstock is readily available all year round.

(J.Crew)
Last week I shared this cashmere tee and chino short combination in a different color combination. I mentioned how I have several of J.Crew's cashmere tees and chinos in different colors because they're so easy to mix and match.
Today, I am sharing a fun color combination for staying cool in the summer heat. I love the bright and cool combination of light yellow and baby blue, it feels so fresh and light.

A spritz is the quintessential summer cocktail. Its lower ABV makes it a daytime sipper, the cool and effervescent bubbles are refreshing. What makes this spritz interesting is the Lambrusco, a sparkling red wine from Italy. Most often we see spritzes made with white wine and Prosecco. This version is refreshing, yet robust.
This take on a classic Caprese salad is so wonderful with fresh summer peaches. Instead of fresh mozzarella, we are adding extra richness by using burrata, the cream and curd-filled ball of fresh mozzarella. It makes for a creamier, richer cheese experience which is especially delicious with the sweet peaches.
Oscar, Ollie, Kelly, and I wish you a lovely weekend! Cheers!
