well ladies, we made it to another friday. i don’t know about you, but i am ready for the weekend. we’ve been on a roll over here at the blog this week. and today we are ready to unwind a bit. this week we’ve been celebrating the comforts of home and family. and so today, the gang’s all here!
today’s outfit is all about summer comfort. and what’s more comfortable in the summer heat than light and airy fabrics? gorgeous coral colored shorts pair perfectly with a white camisole (similar here, here). and to add a little more romance to my outfit, a lovely kimono from Anthropologie.
a kimono is such a fun piece to have for summer. it’s a chic cover up when you’re going between air conditioning and the heat outside. not to mention, a kimono adds a touch or boho glam to any summertime ootd.
i have had metallic sandals on style repeat all summer long. these flat slides go with literally every outfit i reach for this summer. truly, a must have in your closet. with so many great styles to choose from this summer, you can’t go wrong! check out some similar styles here, here and here.
todays recipe is a fun appetizer or small plate. it’s basically a deconstructed cheeseburger, without a bun! to make it even easier, i started off with frozen meatballs. since everything is on a skewer, it’s easy to customize with whatever burger topping you like.
simply cook the meatballs to the package directions and then add a slice of cheese just before they’re out of the oven. melt the cheese and then assemble your skewers.
i have American cheese, a dill pickle chip, a red lettuce leaf, and a cherry tomato.
personally, i think nothing goes better with burgers than beer. and for a lighter beer option (perfectly refreshing for a hot day) we are making a beer shandy. a shandy is simply a 50/50 mix of beer and lemonade. lighter, pilsner beers work the best. so we are using my favorite beer, Stella Artois.
last week, many of you asked about ollie. she hadn’t been making many appearances lately. and that’s because junior style usually brings his puppy pax along on fridays to play with oscar. it took ollie a while to warm up to a new puppy in her home, preferring the solitude of her cat tower during pax’s play dates. but after pax’s extended stay with us a couple weeks ago, ollie has softened toward him.
oscar and pax have so much fun together! they run and chase. by the end of our shoot both dogs are pooped!
this wraps another fridays with oscar. i hope everyone is staying cool and managing to spend some time outside this summer. while this summer has been very different for all of us, it’s important to get out in the fresh air. we have been celebrating the comforts of home this week with a tour of my YouTube studio and our fourth of july family bbq. we will keep bringing you content that is uplifting, relevant and that hopefully brings a welcome distraction. ollie, oscar and i wish all you a lovely weekend.

Love the skewer idea – perfect for appetizers around the pool. No plate needed.
Have a great weekend!
what’s better than easy and delicious!
Perfection! I love everything about the outfit. You look wonderful and ready for a great weekend. Enjoy!
fridays will always be my favorite day of the week!
I’m so happy to see beautiful Ollie. Could you tell be what breed he is?
ollie is a Maine Coon cat. a wonderful breed!
Great looking outfit!
I love Oscar’s face
Ollies is so good looking too.
Happy weekend.
both oscar and ollie are so good natured. love having those two underfoot.
Always look forward to seeing Friday’s with Oscar ❣️ Love kimono style ❣️You look fantastic in that outfit❣️ Also, love seeing your table settings❣️
kimono’s are so easy and breezy! perfect summer essential.
Simply the best outfit of summer yet!!! You look cool and relaxed and lovely. Friday’s with your food ideas are my favorite days. You keep it simple and interesting and make me want to try everything.
I sure do appreciate your very positive attitude during Covid, and as you have journeyed through this last year without Mr. Style. What a deep void for your family with out him. Your strength gives us all strength and lots of positive vibes to keep us all moving along. Sending thanks and gratitude your way!
thank you so much for your sweet words!
Thanks for sharing some cute but comfy sandals! And I like the idea of a kimono with shorts and camisole a lot. I guess I will tuck one into my suitcase for our trip to the coast next week!
have fun on your trip!
Great post! Thanks for the uplifting content.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Suzanne
hope you enjoyed your weekend!
Beautiful as always. I’d love to know where you got the pots on your front porch. They remind me of MacKenzie Childs.
aren’t the planters adorable? they are from GrandinRoad.
Such a lovely post in every way, Beth. Your outfit is definitely ‘me’, something I would wear here in sunny CA. The recipes look like fun as well. But your photos of your animal kids win the prize. They are adorable. Ollie is one of the most beautiful cats I have ever seen.
what would i do without oscar and ollie? they are beautiful inside and out.
Wow Pax has grown! In my mind he is still that adorable little puppy, but now he is becoming quite the handsome adult. Why do they have to grow so fast?!
Also, I’m not normally a kimono fan, but this one is super cute. The sleeves are so fun. The color combo today is reminding me of a refreshing ice cream, in the best possible way.
pax is growing so fast! soon he’ll be oscar’s size.
super way to end the week!
always love fri-yay’s shirley! hope you are well.
Another great idea! Pax is getting big!
can you believe how big pax is getting?
those cheeseburger skewers look yummy! thanks for the idea!
the skewers are easy and delicious! what’s better than that?
That Oscar is one handsome dude! Your OOTD is the epitome of summer as well. Love the one photo of Miss Ollie – she seems to be saying “What?? It’s Friday already?!” So enjoy your blog and especially Friday’s with Oscar!
aren’t oscar and ollie the best?! enjoy your summer.
Fantastic post today! You’re gorgeous in boho glam. Love those soft coral-colored shorts. Agree that metallic sandals add a certain something to every outfit. Thank you, Beth, for bringing us, “content that is uplifting,” because it does uplift. The gang’s pictures today are so good! They look happy. You have a wonderful weekend~
i am so happy to hear you find our content uplifting. that’s exactly what it should do. hope you enjoyed your weekend!
I love the addition of bangs to your longer hair style !
thanks! it adds a little definite to the style.
What a beautiful kimono! I’ve only owned a couple in my life because I tend to get them hung up on things.😀
All those need is a little pearl onion. I never thought of making a cheeseburger kabob. Interesting.
oooohhhh, love the suggestion of pearl onion. thanks!
Great Blog = love Oscar, Ollie and Pax.
Have a great weekend.
thanks, kate! i hope you enjoyed your weekend.
I’m new to your blog and want to say that I really enjoy reading your posts. I love the honesty about your life experiences and I’m finding your fashion suggestions suit my tastes as a 61 year old woman who wants to look good and feel good about the clothes I wear. Thank you for the inspiration. I look forward to your next post.
thanks for your sweet words or encouragement! isn’t it good to know there’s no expiration date on style?!
Beth…. I thought for sure the late posting would be your annual Nordstrom sale review. Update us on Monday..
the Nordstrom review won’t be posted until later this week. things are so much different this year!
Oh, I love the idea of the “mini burgers” on skewers! That’s excellent. I will have to try this. Such an easy thing and it would be fun and light for the summer. Thanks for the great idea. You look summery here. Hope your weekend with family is serene! Good to see Ollie is doing well. Take care, Beth.
ollie is finally adjusting to pax! but now pax is not so sure about her. never a dull moment.
Love the hamburger skewer idea & Shandy’s are great – using my favorite beer too! Your kimono is darling – I’m afraid that would be way to much volume on me but envious of you tall gals that can pull it off.
i had never tried a shandy before today. gotta say i love them!
