Happy Friday, ladies! Welcome November. I know, I know I sound like my mother more and more, but where has this year disappeared to? We are in the home stretch of 2024, with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NYE staring us directly in the face. Has anyone started shopping for Christmas or Hanukkah? Not to worry, as Style at a Certain Age will share gift guides and all sorts of goodies to make your holiday shopping a little less stressful. I’m telling you, I blinked, and we went from the first blush of summer to fall instantly.
If it’s Friday, then it’s time for Kelly to stop by with a yummy recipe and delicious cocktail. This week, it’s all things Autumn with an Autumn Aperol Spritz and Gorgonzola Flatbread. It’s always fun to kick off the weekend with a nice appetizer and drinks. So go ahead and invite your friends or family over and dish up an easy-peasy recipe while enjoying great conversation.

We are making a Fall Flatbread and an Autumn Aperol Spritz
Y’all know I love sweater weather, and while the temps bounce around quite a bit in Georgia this time of year, Mother Nature likes to dish up chilly days. That’s when I happily slip into a cashmere sweater and suede ankle booties from Lands’ End (who is killing it this fall BTW) and straight-leg jeans from J.Crew. Fridays with Oscar are always about casual chic and a simple style uniform of sweater and jeans fits the bill.

A chilly morning greets us on the first morning of November 2024. Perfect sweater weather! I am always happy to welcome November since to me, it's the official beginning of the holiday season – first up, Thanksgiving!
My outfit today couldn't be simpler, Black Denim, a cozy sweater, and slip-on sneakers with a fun print. These are from Rothy's.

Just because we welcome November, doesn't mean we can't still enjoy one of our favorite summertime cocktails – especially if we give it a little fall flavor. A little blackberry liqueur and ginger beer are the perfect ways to give an Aperol Spritz an Autumnal makeover.
Makes 2 Cocktails
2 oz. Aperol
2 oz. Blackberry Liqueur
6 oz. Prosecco
2 oz. Ginger Beer
Orange Wedge and Crystallized Ginger, for garnish
In an ice-filled wine glass, pour in Aperol and blackberry liqueur. Stir gently. Add prosecco and top with ginger beer. Garnish with an orange wedge and crystallized ginger.
Make the most of pears this fall with a Pear, Bacon, and Gorgonzola Flatbread. These cozy flavors meld so well together, giving a wonderful sweet, savory, and umami combination in every bite.
1 cup thinly sliced pear
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 prepared flatbread dough
1 cup shredded Fontina cheese
1 shallot, sliced thinly
1/3 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
1/4 tsp. flaky sea salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 tbsp. honey
1/2 cup loose-packed baby arugula
2 tbsp. crumbled cooked bacon
Preheat oven to 450º F. Toss together the pear slices and the lemon juice in a small bowl and set aside.
Place the flatbread dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle with the Fontina cheese and top with the pear and shallot slices.
Bake until cheese is melted, about 12-15 minutes.
Remove from oven and top with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, flaky sea salt, and black pepper. Drizzle with honey and top with the baby arugula and crumbled cooked bacon.
