gelatos in siena

while florence is a prime example of a renaissance town, siena has a medieval vibe with italian gothic architecture at every turn. siena was the backdrop of a favorite book of mine as a teen Winds of War. once we arrived at piazza de campo, i vividly remembered the scene where the horse race palio di siena took place. since the middle ages, ten of the city’s seventeen districts compete against each other twice a year.

this was our last full day in italy before heading to vienna. what a way to end our italian leg of the trip. one can never go wrong with beautiful scenery, window shopping, and gelatos. as you can see from my ootd, it was a low-key day with boyfriend jeans, silk ruffle neck blouse, and black blazer. let’s not forget a pair of comfy sneakers and crossbody tote. this tote has come in handy on this trip. at first, i wasn’t certain white was the best color choice for this small but mighty handbag. it didn’t take long before i changed my mind on this account. if there’s a moral to this story it’s trusting your gut! it tends to be right.
