Happy Saturday! Today is the last Saturday round-up edition of Kelly’s Kitchen. I am moving to Sunday evenings; beginning next Sunday, April 30, Kelly’s Kitchen will be fresh with a new recipe every Sunday evening.
While I will no longer be posting new recipes to Djalali Cooks, the website will be live, so all the recipes will be available.
Pizza and a Movie was a Friday staple on Djalali Cooks; it was the first series I started on the blog and it remained a favorite partly due to the common family tradition of renting movies and ordering a pizza on Friday nights. In honor of that family tradition and my love of pizza, today I have rounded up My Top 6 Pizza Recipes from Djalali Cooks. I hope you enjoy!

This week we are headed out to the wood fired oven! Today is my first post featuring pizza baked in the gorgeous Mugnaini oven in our backyard. You may remember back in December, when I shared progress photos of the oven being built; and after waiting for the concrete to cure, a little bad weather, and a bit of practice, I am so excited to share this pizza with you! To start things off, we’re doing a classic Neapolitan pizza, The Margherita. In the spirit of a classic Italian meal, we are watching Big Night; the 1996 film starring Stanley Tucci, Tony Shaloub, Ian Holm, Isabella Rossellini and so many others! So let’s head outside for Pizza Margherita!
Hello and welcome to Pizza and a Movie! For today’s pizza we are using up the last of the sun dried tomato pesto we made for our pasta dish yesterday. We are also adding sautéd asparagus, mozzarella, and finishing it off with burrata and fresh basil. This is an amazing combination, super flavorful sun dried tomato pesto is a perfect match for creamy burrata! Let’s get to it!
Remember last Sunday when we did The Greatest Meatball Sub? Well, I had a destination in mind for the leftover meatballs and sauce from that recipe. Detroit Style Meatball Pizza, naturally. When I first did a Detroit-style pizza I made my own dough, but this time I wanted to see how it would go with a store-bought dough. Although this dough didn’t rise as high as my homemade dough, the results yielded a delicious puffy crust with a crispy bottom and edges. Let’s get right to it!
I absolutely love corn on pizza. We have done it a few times here; Esquites Pizza, and Wild Palms Flatbread come to mind. Today’s recipe roasts fresh corn and cherry tomatoes with thinly sliced red onion until everything is caramelized and loaded with sweet, roasted summer flavor. To give a little color, I added diced fresh jalapeño after the cook and topped the pizza with dollops of ricotta. Both of the finishing toppings are totally optional. Let’s get going!
Hello and welcome to our first Pizza and a Movie of 2022! Today’s pizza is really kind of amazing. We have rotisserie chicken tossed in Buffalo Hot Wing sauce; blue cheese crumbles and mozzarella cheese. The thing that really makes this pie special is the panko bread crumb mixture baked on top – it gives the crispy, fried texture you want when you dive into a basket of wings. I’ve been on a Western kick this week, since the season finale of Yellowstone; so this week our movie is the psychological thriller set in 1920’s Montana, The Power of the Dog, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Let’s get to this Hot Wing Pizza!
Hello and welcome to Pizza and a Movie on Djalali Cooks. I have some news to share; I am taking on a larger role at Style at a Certain Age. This means that today’s Pizza and a Movie will be the last regular post on Djalali Cooks.
Foremost, I want to say thank you so much to all of you for your support and interest. We have created quite a community here – sharing ideas, stories and memories. I am not going far; starting April 30, Kelly’s Kitchen on Style at a Certain Age will feature a fresh new recipe every Sunday evening. And you can catch new recipes with me and Beth on Fridays with Oscar. Remember, Djalali Cooks will still be here, so you will always be able to return for recipes – and I will be here too, if you have questions or just want to reach out. With that, let’s get to the recipe!

I am soooo sorry to see Kelly’s cooking blog go. How many like myself that have made most of the recipes and not commented for her. Mea culpa.
