it’s goodbye summer, hello fall! that’s what i always think after labor day weekend has come and gone. while our temps might not immediately match up to fall fashion, it’s time to make a slow transition from summer to autumn. even when we lived in tropical climates that were summer year-round my outfits began to change. sleeveless blouses in bright colors were exchanged for sleeveless blouses in muted tones. neutral color schemes will be our best friend in the coming weeks. but don’t forget to slowly introduce fall fabrics like tweed and suede into your wardrobe.
today’s ootd begins with a structured jacket in a multicolored tweed. it’s a great layering piece this time of year that will ward off chilly mornings, evenings or a plain old frigid office building. pair it with jeans for an effortless weekend look. but it looks just as fabulous popped over a pencil skirt for a nine-to-five outfit. notice my slingbacks are neutral cap toe block heels that go with just about everything from skirts to pants to dresses even jumpsuits.

this time of year i begin to integrate suede handbags back into my wardrobe. bye, bye straw bags see you next summer.
a sleeveless blouse is a great layering piece underneath a jacket.
look for blouses with special details that look great all on their own. notice the pintucks and self-covered buttons.

the longer length gives the option to tuck or leave untucked.

a pop of color is a good idea any time of year – fall, winter, spring or summer. sunglasses are an easy way to add your favorite color into the mix.

Off topic, but i just love, love, love your white jacket. I think you said you had it custom made some time ago. I am seriously thinking of having it copied for me. Can you help me with what material you used for the jacket & the trim…also, is it lined.? Appreciate any help you are willing to share.
Thank you

The sunglasses are perfection with this OOTD. I saw that jacket in the catalog, and I think it has a matching skirt, too. It’s a nice Chanel look, and looks wonderful with jeans. I have a pair of similar shoes and I reach for them so often come cooler temps–mine are not slingback, but have the same Chanel looking cap-toe in the same neutral colors.
Enjoying your Talbots items!
Great idea to pair the Chanel-like jacket w/ very casual flowy top for weekends! I have similar items and will try putting them together rather than a structured blouse or jersey top underneath. Mr. Style once again SLAYS w/ the urban, hip locales.
