cheers to friday! cheers to the weekend! let’s kick it off with a yummy black ‘n blue grilled steak salad. it’s easy to make and oh so delicious. one of my kiddos stopped by for dinner, so this is what i whipped up. steak and salad are a summer go-to so why not put them together in one big salad? nothing better than firing up the Weber Grill for a ribeye steak on Friday night especially when guests are over. it’s easy to grill, chat and savor the summer weather. just make sure you have bug spray nearby. whenever steaks are on the menu, i love to drink a dirty gin martini. shaken, not stirred. so join us for another edition of fridays with oscar.
madras shorts and polo tee (similar here) are from my favorite designer of all-time Ralph Lauren. the shorts have a matching blazer that turns it into a shorts suit that’s a chic upscale look perfect for a resort vacation. platform sandals are back in action today. with summer on the downside, i want to squeeze in every opportunity to wear shorts and sandals. before you know it jeans and booties will be our everyday go-to’s.
martinis should be garnished with three olives, odd numbers are good luck, or so they say. the first olive is eaten after the first sip with the third olive eaten at the last sip.
homemade croutons are so easy to make. slice leftover or stale bread into cubes, then toast in olive oil.
lemons from my Meyer Lemon Tree. there are nine in all. can’t wait for the harvest.
the birds zoom in and out and round about the yard. they love their feeders! oscar loves to chase them!

Blown away by the whole post. Love the outfit down to your toes. Seeing how much Oscar loves you makes me smile and that steak is making me hungry. Looks good.
I’m confused. Your cocktail recipe mentions dry vermouth. But your photographs display Martini Rosso, which is a sweet, dark red vermouth. And then the photograph of the cocktail in the glass shows a yellow liquid, which it wouldn’t be if you had used Martini Rosso. So which is it?

I met with my orthopedic surgeon yesterday and decided to have knee replacement surgery.
One of my first thoughts was to watch the Style at a Certain Age youtube video in which you discuss knee surgery. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is so helpful to know what to expect. And, since I’ve spent the summer in flats, I’m so please to see you in heels.

I loves me a good dirty martini–guess I need to go and get some vermouth and vodka! Have been a fan of madras since high school, but unfortunately have never been able to find any that suit me. And I’d wear the blazer and shorts in a New York minute–great look.
