if you remember, last friday oscar was feeling a bit blue seeing as he was on his way to the kennel. from the looks of it he survived and now he’s enjoying some ‘oscar time’ as we gear up for the day. a cup of coffee is a definite must for this non-morning gal. or maybe two since i love to ease into my day. the weather has been absolutely delightful the past week so i’ve plopped my fanny on our screen porch. as you can see from the photos it’s slowly coming together. at least the cushions are out and the pillows fluffed. this is such an enjoyable setting for mr. style and i (and oscar) to relax. there’s a dining table across the room where we love to catch a meal or two. lox and bagels are waiting for us, but i’m sneaking in a bowl of yogurt and fresh fruit while the photo shoot is in session. it appears oscar would a helping too…

several of you suggested i hold off on buying plants for our porches (we have a front and back) until april. and that’s just what i’ve done. next week a nursery run is penciled into my schedule. i’m already scouring pinterest and magazines for ideas and inspiration. although a boston fern is a definite yes. but i’m ready for some pops of color and pretty flowers. what a glorious time of year when the earth is renewed once more.

on that happy note, oscar and i wish each of you a lovely weekend!

Consider a Kimberly Queen fern. Beautiful, and not as messy as Boston. Growers Outlet in Loganville for best prices & selection. I snagged 4 last weekend: 2 for front porch, 2 for back. Oscar looks happy on your pretty porch.

    1. hi cheri!
thanks for the tip. i keep hearing about these ferns so i’m on the lookout.

Love your porch! What a wonderful way to start (or end) your day. Oscar is such a sweet lapdog! xoxo

    1. hi donna! i couldn’t agree more. i’ve had three homes with screen porches and i think they are a necessity. and they’re good for the soul – such a peaceful spot.
      xoxo

Always amazing to me how our pet’s blend with our decor. It is usually not intentional…except for my rule that floors should be the same color as your pet’s hair!-Laurel Bledsoe

What a beautiful place to greet the morning. Oscar looks like he doesn’t want to let you go – what a sweetie! Enjoy your beautiful deck (living in my studio in NYC, I am a bit envious) and have a great weekend!

    1. yes, but it’s a studio in new york city! i might be jealous too. but i have to admit i might give an edge to the screen porch. it’s a peaceful space to be certain.
hope your week is going well.
      xoxo

Always look forward to your Fridays with Oscar post. Thanks for sharing pics of your comfy and
beautiful screened porch with Oscar, the “lap dog.” He loves his Mom! Loved the robe
from Anthropologie. Went online today and bought one. They have a $20 off a $100 purchase running
    through this weekend.

    1. hi bobbie!
as you can see i am way behind on answering comments. let me know how you like this robe. i fell in love with it when i bopped into anthropologie on our visit to charleston.

The robe is beautiful. I had a pair of Natori pjs in plum color. Great
combination. We, too, like to have meals on our covered patio. Weather
has been spring-like in Southern Oregon and the trees are leafing out and
        blooms are so colorful.

Great porch! And Oscar looks like he’s enjoying it, too. It’s rained here and that helped the pollen to disperse a bit–we call it the “green slime” that hits every year about this time. I’m always glad when it washes away and color settles in! Enjoy your quiet spot with Oscar and Mr Style!

    1. thanks, sue. if you head this way we’ll sip iced tea and turn the fan on to keep cool the southern way.
      xoxo

  7. Maria João

Lovely place to rest with a fur friend!! Oscar looks so cozy on your lap!

    1. thanks, maria! we absolutely love our screened porch. i think oscar does too.
      xoxo
