It’s Game Night!

family game night

Happy Friday, ladies! Well, another week has come and gone and it’s time to kick off the weekend! I can’t tell you how happy I am to see Friday knocking on my door. I love to go off on adventures and explore new countries, but I’ve been playing catch up all week long… Who else needs a vacation after a vacation?! A family game night is a great way to ease back into my routine at home while catching everyone up on my adventures in the Mediterranean.

Kelly has stopped by to whip up another yummy recipe. And I will encourage you to give this one a try! It’s so easy to assemble and it’s a genius way to entertain a crowd. Plus, it’s delicious! I loved the cocktail that goes along with it which is also easy peasey to put together. I give this week’s FWO an A+++!

TL;DR

Today, we are hosting a fun family game night!

Beth’s Game Night Outfit

And I’m loving my casual outfit perfect for Friday. It’s been chilly here in Georgia so I broke out a cashmere sweater from Banana Republic, kick flare corduroys from Lands’ End, and suede booties. I’d say fall is finally in full swing. Stay tuned to next week’s post when Kelly and I share all things Halloween.

Kelly’s Game Night Outfit

I featured these pinstripe jeans by Frame, from Nordstrom when I posted my pinstripe suit outfit a few weeks ago. I had to add them to my wardrobe because I feel like pinstripe jeans are a fun and easy way to wear the classic pattern in a casual way.

These jeans don’t come in petite sizes, I am wearing a size 25, and I did get them hemmed by my expert tailor, who just happens to be my next-door neighbor! A simple white twill button-up from J.Crew and The Day Glove Ballet Flats from Everlane complete my casual game night outfit.

Game Night Apple Cider Shandies

A shandy is a low-ABV beer cocktail that is perfect for a family game night. With only three ingredients, sparkling cider, pilsner beer, and lemon juice, it’s simple, refreshing, and delicious! This is a great fall cocktail too!

Game Night Pizza Kabobs

These Pizza Kabobs are super fun to make and present to your game night guests. You can customize them with your favorite pizza toppings and you can get everyone involved in preparing them. We went with sausage, pepperoni, onion, green pepper, and tomatoes. Serve with a warm marinara dipping sauce and you are the winner of game night!

Pizza Kabobs

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. Italian sausage links
  • 2 cups whole button or cremini mushrooms
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 large green pepper cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 30 slices pepperoni
  • 1 tube refrigerated pizza crust
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 ¼ cups pizza sauce warmed

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 400º F. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain and let cool. When cool enough to handle, cut the sausage into about 20 pieces. Alternately skewer the sausage, vegetables, and pepperoni on skewers.
  • Unroll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut width-wise into 1-inch wide strips. Starting at the pointed end of the skewer, pierce one end of the dough strip and spiral-wrap the dough strip around the length of the prepared skewer, allowing the veggies and meat to peek through between the spirals. Repeat with the remaining dough and skewers.
  • Arrange the kabobs on an oiled baking sheet. Bake until vegetables are tender and the pizza crust is golden. 10-12 minutes. Immediately sprinkle with cheese and place back in the oven until the cheese is melted about 2-3 minutes. Serve with pizza sauce.
