How I Put Together An Easy Peasy Christmas Brunch

And the stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.  It’s here, Christmas 2022. The long holiday weekend has begun and I hope you’re all snug as a bug ‘cuz winter storm Elliott is bringing snow, wind and cold, to the Great Lakes and Northeast. There’s an arctic blast that reaches all the way down South with hard freeze warnings as far as Florida. Brrrrr!

But all is calm, all is bright at Casa Djalali. The kiddos descend this afternoon and we have a jam-packed weekend planned. There’s bowling, and movies, and presents and lots and lots of food! Maybe even a cookie or two for yours truly. I’ve been fairly good this year so fingers crossed Santa leaves something special underneath the tree. I’m so blessed to have my family here to celebrate Christ’s birth.

Oscar is by my side ready to greet the clan so let’s get this party started! Christmas morning I serve an easy peasy Christmas brunch with a menu that stays the same year after year. I started making this sausage cheese casserole as a young bride and it’s been a family tradition since then. I also whip up a french toast casserole and chocolate chip coffee cake. A mimosa and bloody Mary bar make it easy for the family to mix their own drinks and of course, coffee is brewing in the kitchen.

3. Christmas Bar

Christmas brunch should never be complicated so I stick with the basics and/or classics. If you like a boozy brunch, keep it simple with a Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar. Bloody Marys are easy to concoct with a ready-to-serve mix like Mr. & Mrs. T and vodka. It’s easy to set up a bar for guests that include individual servings of orange juice and Prosecco for Mimosas. There’s no right way to make a Bloody Mary But here are some ideas to include in your bar:

— Rim the glasses with Old Bay Seasoning

— Fill the ice bucket with ice

Condiments:

  • Pickled okra
  • Pickles
  • Martini olives
  • Lemon Wedges
  • Pepper
  • Hot sauce
  • Celery
  • Worcestershire
  • Jalapeรฑos
