Happy Friday, gang! We made it through another week! Today we are all about Laid Back Summer Style. The weather has been absolutely delightful in Athens this week, so lots of time spent outdoors. This time of year I spend as much time on my screen porch or outside on my patio. I’ll bring my laptop with me and chip away at work then putter in the yard filling my bird feeders and tossing Oscar’s ball. Every once in awhile I discover the screen door is ajar and Ollie slips outside to join us. She’s an indoor cat most of the time but she loves spending time outside with me and Oscar if she can!
Since it’s Friday, y’all know Oscar will make an appearance! And Kelly is whipping up another delicious bit to eat, although this one is soooo easy to make and perfect to have on hand if guests stop by and you just want to share something to nibble on. I love the name of the cocktails this week – Porch Swing. It reminds me of my childhood and countless hours spent on my Nana’s front porch swing. I’ve been wanting to add one to my front porch but there isn’t enough roof overhang to accommodate one. I’m still trying to figure that one out. So come on in and stay awhile, ‘cuz we’re kicking off the weekend!

I have been in love with this citron color for the last couple of years. It seems to be catching on because this year J.Crew has so many more citron-colored (they call it pale kiwi) pieces. I snatch them up as quickly as I can!

Porch Swing
The Porch Swing is an appropriately-named cocktail for a lazy summer afternoon. A simple cocktail with gin, Pimms, lemon juice and sparkling water, garnished with refreshing cucumber.
Charcuterie snack mix
This snack mix is great to have out before a barbecue, or just to snack on while you sip your Porch Swing! With the great flavors of smoked almonds and pistachios mingling with the salty, crispy prosciutto, chewy dried cherries and snappy parmesan crisps.

That top reminds me me of one my mother made for me which she embroidered herself probably in the 70’s. It was beautiful but no longer fit. I gave it to my daughter in law. I ordered the one from Talbots for sentimental reasons. As per my new rule, I must now remove something from my closet. Thanks so much for your blogs. I enjoy them so much!
Kelly is so tiny and so cute. She wears her clothes.so perfectly for her petite figure. A suggestion to cut her hair in a fun pixie would suit her so much better than her current style, think bangs, neck and ears!!
I, too, wanted a porch swing on my back porch, which is screened, but didn’t have room. I settled for a glider, which my nephew dubbed the rocking couch, so that is what we call it and I do enjoy it. I finally got my porch swing, which hangs in a frame, beside the pergola in the wooded area in our back yard and enjoy that one as well.
