Welcome to Kelly’s Kitchen! Today, I am keeping our tailgate theme from Fridays with Oscar going with Cuban Sliders. Sliders are one of my favorite ways to feed a group, they are so easy to prepare and you can get as creative as you want with them! I love a Cubano sandwich, with its rich combination of deli ham and smoked pork; Swiss cheese, and crunchy dill pickles. These Cuban Sliders incorporate classic Cubano flavors with Hawaiian sweet rolls and a to-die-for herby garlic butter infused with orange and lime zest. Let’s jump in!

Cuban Sliders
Cuban Slider Ingredients
1 Stick (8 tablespoons) Unsalted Butter
2 tsp. Chopped Fresh Parsleyย
1 tsp. Chopped Fresh Oreganoย
1/2 tsp. Ground Cuminย
2 Cloves Garlic, mincedย
Zest of 1 Orangeย
Zest of 1 Limeย
Kosher salt and Freshly GSmoked Pulled Pork (from the hot bar of the grocery store)
One 12-count package of Hawaiian Rolls, halved horizontally
12 oz. Thinly Sliced Deli Ham
8 oz. Dill Pickle Slicesย
8 oz. Swiss Cheese Slicesย
1/4 cup Yellow Mustard
How to Prepare Cuban Sliders
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the parsley, oregano, cumin, garlic, orange zest and lime zest and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
In a medium bowl, combine the pork and about 3 tablespoons of the butter mixture and toss to coat.
Step 4
Spread some of the remaining butter mixture in the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch baking dish, then place the bottom half of the rolls on the butter. Top the roll bottoms with the ham, then the pork, then the pickle slices and finally the cheese. Spread the mustard on the underside of the roll tops, then lay the roll tops on top of the cheese. Pour the remaining butter mixture over the top of the rolls.
Step 5
Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Uncover and bake until the top is golden brown, about another 5 minutes.
I have made a lot of different sliders over the years, and these Cuban Sliders are my absolute favorite! They hold up great too – overnight in the fridge and about 15 seconds in the microwave is all it takes to enjoy any leftovers you might have. However, if you’re making these for a group, I don’t think you’ll have anything left over! I hope you try these sliders for your next gameday get-together. Take care and be well, xo Kelly
