there are several items hanging in my closet that are trendy, and classic at the same time. my black faux leather moto jacket is one such item. biker jackets first hit the scene when harley davidson carried the item for the first time in its new york store back in 1928. but this iconic jacket had to wait several decades before it’s popularity soared thanks to a couple of teen rebel movies in the ’50’s – remember heart throbs marlon brando, and james dean seated on their motorcycles? and while i’m far removed from my teen years, and certainly not rebellious (unless you count my fondness for distressed jeans. okay, i do have one or two skirts with hemlines above my knee) i’m completely in love with this hard-working gem. maybe because the moto jacket is so closely associated with american classic style. kind of like blue jeans, and white tee’s. so i was happy to pull it out today, and pair it with a dark-rinse denim skirt. my white tee is in action tucked underneath the jacket as i wanted to keep the overall look sophisticated, but low-key. pointy-toe boots, structured handbag, and, of course, my fav pearls complete my ootd.

I have vacillated back and forth about purchasing a moto jacket and finally bit the bullet this past week – so excited to wear this fall. I love your entire outfit.
hi susan!
you won’t be sorry you purchased a moto jacket. send me a photo how you styled it!

I love the juxtaposition of the leather and pearls. I recently graduated from college, turned 48, and went back to work. I’m teaching-but adults in the construction industry. It’s a fine line between being too dressy and too casual for this job. I’ve enjoyed perusing your sight thus far!
that’s what’s fun about style. just one little accessory can change the whole look!
congrats on graduating from college at 48 – you already know you’re never too old
for anything.
thanks, for stopping by and dropping a note!
