My Typical Workout Week
My typical workout week:
- Pilates 4x a week
- Arms, chest, and back weight training 4x a week
- Orange Theory strength training 1-2x a week
Weight training is important at any age, but especially as we age. Lifting weights helps us gain muscle mass and strength, as well as better mobility, mental sharpness, and metabolic health. After my total knee replacement, I couldn’t even lift two-pound dumbbells. Now, I’m up to twelve pounds. Slow and steady wins the race.

I’ve lost 20 lbs. since August 2023 the old fashioned way — cutting out sugar, upping veggies, decreasing starches, portion control, increasing exercise 5X week, including strength training, and have gone from size 8P to 2P. Along with that comes the (darn) problem of having to buy new pants (some shirts still fine). Your tips are really good — thank you for today’s post.
