and it’s home again, home again, jiggity jig. mr. style and i arrived home late last night after a relaxing week watching caribbean sunsets with balmy breezes. oscar and ollie greeted us at the door with wiggles, waggles, and wet kisses. then it was time to fall into bed.

with today’s black monochromatic, outfit you’d think i just returned from new york not the caribbean. but after a week’s worth of island style, it’s time to get it in gear and refocus on fall fashion. and what better way than with a cashmere turtleneck dress from everlane. this dress will pull double-duty in future months as it will look divine popped over faux leather leggings for an edgy modern look. today, this monochromatic ootd is kept simple with black on black and a textured embroidered jacket for good measure – black tights, black over-the-knee-boots, jacket.

black can be a tricky color as there are multiple shades. the key to layering a one color family together is to match everything with precision. or mix and match noticeably different shades within the color family. an example would be reds and pinks – same color family different hues.

    Welcome home! Glad to hear you had a relaxing vacation. What a great monochromatic look. Those boots are excellent, and such a good buy. I was tempted to get them, but I do have several pairs of OTK boots, and since I’m getting ready for total knee replacement surgeries, I decided I’ll wait ’til next year. I’ll enjoy them vicariously on you!

      i bet you can’t wait to have the knee surgeries behind you sue! i imagine it’s one knee first, rehabilitation then the other knee. just think of all the shopping you’ll do when you’re mobile again. then again, online shopping might be a little too easy while you’re waiting! xo

    Looking relaxed after your travels. Monochromatic is my style in navy or black. The jacket is lovely and really can be carried off well by a tall person.
