weekend getaways are always a treat. especially if it’s a trip where i jet off to visit one of my kiddo’s. every minute i spend with my family is time well spent. lucky me that one resides in san francisco, another in new york city and one in atlanta. all fabulous cities in their own right. which one is my favorite? why the one i am visiting. and there’s never a lack of restaurants to choose from, a theatrical show to attend, or museums to traipse through. just the sorts of things this city-loving girl loves to do. but when spending precious moments with my loved ones i never want to waste one minute fretting over what to wear. so for an upcoming trip to san francisco i decided to plan ahead and choose my outfits wisely. then when i arrive on their doorstep i know i’ll be ready to make every moment count.
when marks and spencer invited me to collaborate with their life, spend it well campaign that encourages us to stop living life on autopilot and to make time for the things that matter i knew i had to say yes. because we all know easy it is to get caught up with our to-do lists and forget to enjoy life. but i also knew i would find some very special dresses at marks and spencer that are perfect for my upcoming trip to the bay. as you can see from the photos, i’m also bringing along two lightweight coats. why? you ask. well, mark twain said it best, “the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” guess who’s keeping warm in style? with florals all the rage this season i chose an elegant print coat that’s the perfect companion with a black fit and flare dress. but it will look just as spectacular paired with blue jeans or a pair of black fitted pants.
if you want more florals in your life (i do) the second dress with embroidered details is perfect all summer long. and it looks tres chic paired with a simple black overcoat. with so many colors intertwined into the dress, i could have veered off in any direction as far as shoes were concerned. but in the end, i chose a pop of pink for a sweet summertime vibe.
no trip to san francisco would be complete without a stop in napa where it’s bound to be hot, hot, hot. but i’m thinking this dreamy blue and white off the shoulder maxi will help me keep my cool. and let me enjoy a leisurely visit to a vineyard or two where my the only pressing decision will be red or white?
now that i’m set with ‘what to wear,’ i’ll be counting down the days until my visit.

Those are my favorite cities in the U.S. as well! They each have a different energy don’t they? You look fabulous as usual.
it’s so interesting that cities really have personalities! i’m so lucky my children decided to live in cool destinations. and they love to come to athens because it’s so chill.
