most mondays i’m avoiding those blues. but not today. that’s ‘cuz i have a snazzy new blue skirt from anthropologie. and it’s corduroy. back in the day when i had a kick-ass sewing room, i whipped up a blue wide-wale corduroy wrap around skirt with a leather button that i wore the bejeebers out of. on any given day you would see me sporting that skirt around town with blue tights and blue pointy toe flats. there was absolutely nothing fancy about that skirt but boy did i love it. my favorite way to style it? well, i would sneak into mr. style’s closet and borrow his brown cashmere turtleneck for an oversized look. oh how i loved to step into his closet and inhale the lingering scent of his favorite cologne that hung in the air. he has a knack for picking out just the right fragrance.
imagine my delight when i came across this faux wrap skirt that’s a little bit preppy and a whole lot of cute. and the asymmetrical hem? it’s fresh and modern and gives this skirt the zing it needs. there are so many ways to style this little number but the temps are mild enough today to get by with a shirt and sweater. guess what? i may not have blue pointy toe flats like i used to but i do own these adorable kate spade velvet ballet flats that’ll give me that preppy vibe i’m so fond of. but i did want to draw attention to this adorable shirt by madewell. it’s called an ‘ex-boyfriend’ shirt so it’s oversized. take a peek at the back panel. the stripes are different than the front. the yoke is horizontal and the back has a thinner strip than the front. genius!

I love this look! It’s classic and chic, and yet very modern. This skirt rocks:). Have a great day Berh, Renata xo

I have always loved corduroy. And that’s a nice rich blue. Love the sweater to give it another pop of color. And a pocket?? I’m sold.
pockets always seal the deal for me! what is it that makes them so special?

Fun story about the skirt you made and how much you loved wearing it! There is something about a deep rich corduroy that is so classic. Navy flats and a navy pinstripe shirt round out the trifecta. Casual chic and preppy…good look on you. xoxo
i think this navy rendition will be my second favorite corduroy skirt, donna! happy christmas!

Cute story about the skirt you made. It brings back a memory of my sewing days. I was never a meticulous sewer (which is why those sewing days are over!). I made a purple corduroy jumper but forgot about the fabric nap when I cut the pieces so one side was light purple and the other dark. The crowning touch came when I added a red zipper thinking it wouldn’t show because I didn’t have a purple one!!
love the addition of the red zipper! isn’t it fun to travel down memory lane? lots of bloopers and blunders to laugh about that’s for certain.
