Well, another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping trip is in the books! Before you know it, Christmas 2024 will be here. I CAN NOT believe it’s July… But Kelly, Chelsea, and I had a ball shopping til we dropped. Kelly and I drove into Atlanta the night before the Sale. It’s become a tradition for us to have dinner at Le Colonial, a Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Buckhead Village. Chelsea lives in Atlanta, so she bops over for dinner and our shopping spree early the next morning. My extraordinary photographer Jess joins us at Nordstrom before the store opens, and she keeps us on track while we try outfits on, take photos, and, this year, filmed videos for Instagram Stories and a YouTube video. So join us today as we share our Dressing Room Diaries.
It’s a day filled with fun and laughter, but I’m telling you, by the time we head to a late lunch, we’re pooped! And ready for a glass of wine!!! But I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shoutout to Phipps Nordstrom, who invited us to a Cardmember Shopping Party before the doors opened at 10 AM. Again, thank you for the lovely hospitality you showed our motley crew.

Today, we’re sharing a few of the outfits we tried on. Some came home with us, and some did not. And I discovered a new-to-me brand that you will be seeing more of in the months and years to come - Varley. It’s a knitwear company that has the dreamiest sweaters and loungewear. I’m already a big fan.
The first outfit is a pair of Nordstrom black crepe pull-on pants that fit like a dream! I paired them with a Veronica Beard Johnny Collar Polo sweater.
The second outfit is from a Nordstrom brand, Halogen, and features an on-trend double-breasted vest and matching high-waist trousers. This set also comes in black.
Last outfit (although we have many more outfits to share in upcoming posts) is the Varley Callie Sheer Knit cotton sweater that I love, love, love. I don’t necessarily love Olive Green, but I ordered Egret online and should have that in my hot little hands in a day or two. I paired the sweater with AG Ex-Boyfriend jeans that have a slim not skinny fit.
While we always have a great time shopping in-store at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, the last few years have shown that the inventory is not as robust as the online shopping experience. This fact along with Nordstrom’s free and easy return policy makes online shopping a breeze. Most of what I have in my wish list was not available in-store. While disappointing, I did find several items, a few of which I am sharing today in our Dressing Room Diaries. And stay tuned in the coming weeks as I will share what I purchased online as it arrives.
For my first outfit, I am happy to come home with the Vince Wool & Cashmere Short Sleeve Sweater. I didn’t have this on my Wish List, but when I tried it on, I felt it was hard to resist the comfort and quality of Vince Cashmere!
For my second outfit, this Pleated Tie Waist Dress is a brand I had never heard of before called Moon River. I love the Grecian look of this dress with the pleats and the double-tie waist. The pleated flutter sleeves are very on trend. I think this dress would be a great wedding guest dress.
I am a sucker for short sleeve sweaters, and open knits are huge this year, so this Open Knit Sweater by the knitwear brand Varley caught my eye. It’s a little big on my petite frame, but an oversized sweater is super comfortable. I realized in researching this top online, that it’s already sold out! Varley is a new-to-me brand that I will keep my eye on. This top is super comfortable, very soft, and very well made.
This is my second year joining Beth and Kelly at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and we had ourselves a day! While the store didn't have everything that was available online, I did find a few pieces that I really loved.
This rust midi sweater dress by Julia Jordan was a definite favorite. I typically steer away from tight-fitting dresses because, with my lack of curves, they tend to make me look like a pencil, but this dress flared in all the right places! It would be a perfect fall dress.
These AG jeans and this Halogen rib mock neck top were also favorites! The jeans fit great and had a stretch to them, which I love; being comfortable and cute is always a win-win. This top would be a perfect transition piece from summer to fall as it’s short-sleeved but knitted. Add a cute sneaker for a casual look or a heel for a dinner outfit.
I love when I can combine a blouse with jeans! With my job in real estate, I’m always looking for a professional yet comfortable outfit, and this is it. These Good American jeans are so fun with the wide leg. Note that the sizes are little off – I normally wear size 0 and these jeans are a size 4 and they fit perfectly. So keep that in mind while shopping these jeans. This Vince Camuto blouse with a flower detail makes the perfect pairing with black denim.
