slipping into a new week with a little rain, cooler temps and a pair of smokin’ hot velvet shoes. well, technically they’re smoking slippers that are perfectly appropriate inside or outside the house. velvet is on fire this winter – trend wise speaking – so there are a plethora of choices when it comes to velvet footwear. this pair by tahari won my vote due to its high vamp and embossed fabric. simple and sweet. these shoes also come in leopard if you are on the hunt for animal print.
with a chic pair of shoes taking the spotlight the rest of my ootd is comfy and casual. there’s something about a rainy day that has me craving comfort food and an equally comfortable outfit. no fuss no muss. so out came a pair of girlfriend jeans, a chunky black turtleneck, and a striped shirt with long tails that added an extra layer of warmth. add a bold lip – dragon lady – for good measure and this gloomy day just got a tad brighter.

I have so enjoyed your fashions and ideas! I am short and 10 years older than you (at least) and I am happy to say that many of your classic fashions work for short people too! So..Thanks! And Merry Christmas!
they do indeed, susan! wishing you a very merry christmas to you and yours.

Great shoes … I wish I weren’t overloaded on shoes and undergoing a “moratorium” on new ones for the time being. And I see they’re even on sale …. [sigh]
a shoe moratorium?! well, you are one brave woman.

I have tried to purchase something velvet each year on sale at the end of a season, and now I have a number of things–pants, tunics, dresses, a skirt, shoes–that I really like. I love getting them out this time of year–they always seem special to me, even if used in a casual outfit. Your rainy day outfit is perfection. Stay toasty! Love the shoes.
that’s the best part of classic style – you can add one piece at a time and have a lovely wardrobe.
all of your items sound elegant and chic.
