separates are the foundation of my wardrobe. skirts, blouses, tees, and blazers abound in my closet as well as an assortment of jeans and chinos. if these items are chosen with care they can last years, even decades. take my navy blue crepe skirt that i’ve had for several seasons. the light-weight wool fabric can be worn year round, and pencil skirts have been around for decades. the color navy is a perfect match for so many other colors: think pink, green, orange, brown, blue, black, you get the picture. and blazers? they go with everything from jeans to sheath dresses. i’ve even popped one over shorts for a dressy daytime look. for today’s ootd that is perfect for a chic nine-to-five look i paired a yellow linen blazer with a classic navy pencil skirt. polka dots peek out from underneath the jacket and give the outfit a little pizazz. gold metallic sandals finish off this summertime look, but i couldn’t resist a pop of color from my structured handbag that gives this ootd some zing.
