happy wednesday, gang! we’re easing into spring step by step, even if April throws a few snow showers your way. hangeth thou in there! spring always arrives sooner or later, sometimes much later, depending on your geographical location.
today, i wanted to thank you for all of the lovely comments and love you send my way. truly, i have the best readership EVER! as hard as i try, a comment or two slips through the cracks and remains unanswered. but please know how much your support means to me. this blog continues to be dedicated to aging with grace, strength, and beauty. even though the clock is ticking in our lives, it hasn’t expired. more than ever, over fifty women are interested in staying modern, fresh, and relevant. it isn’t always about looking as young as we can for as long as we can. living life to the fullest is being the best version of ourselves, wrinkles and all. we’re interested in exercise, healthy recipes, beauty, makeup, skincare, redefining and reorganizing our empty nests, travel, work, and just plain figuring out the next chapter or two of our lives. am i right?! ladies, Style at a Certain Age is here for you because style encompasses so much more than putting an outfit together. true style is the embodiment of how we live our lives each and every day.
today’s ootd is all about spring stripes! what would spring be without a stripe or two? once i spied this adorable striped shirt from Anthropologie, i knew it was coming home with me. this shirt is casual chic at its best. from the different combinations of stripes to the relaxed fit and the special attention to details like buttons on the sides, this shirt is destined to get lots of action all spring and summer. this striped shirt will look terrific with jeans or shorts, but today it’s paired with white chinos from Talbots (old, similar here). last week the temps were in the 80s, which meant it was time to slip into sandals. metallic sandals are always sitting in my closet as they act as neutrals. when in doubt, gold or silver shoes will come to your rescue! once summer arrives, i love to wear gold, whether it’s a pair of gold sandals from Banana Republic (old, similar here and here), gold bangles, or gold earrings. one of my favorite color combos is gold and orange! it’s a match made in heaven. so i couldn’t resist grabbing my orange tote from Mark and Graham to add a hint of summery fun to this outfit.

Good mornin’ Sunshine!
You look so refreshed. I love love your pixie cut. Couldn’t be more flattering.
This is a most stylish and relaxed ootd.
Did u love your getaway to Lake Oconee?
Sooo beautiful there. The dogwoods and azaleas have been amazing this Spring.
always love to hear from you Georgia Peach! nothing better than spring in the South. love this time of year.
Love the look and your new hair cut. Makes you eye stand out. Looks lighter for the summer.
thanks of the lovely compliment, Rory!
Refreshing and fun look, Beth! Agree with you on metallic sandals as perfect neutral. I wear a similar shirt from Chico’s, however feel dowdy…it’s my mindset, because you wear this well. Instead, I style mine over a minimal white cotton tank, tie the shirt at the waist, and sometimes add a white jean jacket.
sounds like a cute outfit!
Beth, another great post. I really like your short hair. I bet it’s easy to take care of day to day.
I just finished the book “The Midnight Library”I must admit at first I really didn’t like it but wow was it good! Definitely something to think about.
that’s what people are saying about this book – makes you think! it’s being made into a movie.
Gorgeous outfit! Enjoy being tall! 🙂
it has its advantages as well as disadvantages. every size and shape does.
Absolutely love your new haircut.
thanks so much, patti!
Love your haircut and this ootd! Yes, spring, share the GA sunshine with us still snow-challenged midwesterners!
i remember those midwest springs well! before you know it the daffodils will arrive.
Love the new haircut, adorable for summer.
perfect summer ‘do’!
Beth you write special word, than you for your word..
Very pretty combination for
Spring!!
I think Lauren has one similar, the problem with me and that one is that I am short.
Again thank you for your words
Have a very nice day
Lots of love
thanks, gloria! happy wednesday!
I look forward to your blog, always uplifting and stylish!! Your hair style is
Awesome!!!!!
thanks so much, emma! i’m so happy you’re here.
Can’t believe how young you look with your short haircut 👍
i have the best hair stylist! she always keeps me at the top of my game.
Love this fresh take on summer stripes and the fun button detailing at the sides.
i just loved all the subtle details of this blouse!
Such a happy, appealing outfit. Right up my alley. I’m copying today. Again, your pixie cut is too cute for words.
P.S. LOVE my Scoop double-breasted blazer and both colors of my Scoop scrunched-sleeved blazer. The watermelon is particularly pretty. Your WM tips are excellent.
i’m so happy to hear you love the watermelon shade! how could you not love pink?!
I look forward to your blog everyday. Thank you for the outfit inspiration that you provide. Always love seeing Oscar too.
i so appreciate you being here!
I am soooo envious of that hair cut, Beth 🥰. You have perfected the bags. It really opens up you face, while framing it. Give your stylist a tip!
I really like how you style your tunic blouse. The long blouse, button down or tunic, has become a regular in my rotation, so it’s great to see all your takes on styling them. Thanks and enjoy your lovely warm spring.
Oops, that should be bangs, not bags.
always love a loose flowy top for those hot summer days!
This is how I dress in the summer. How did you know? We even have a very similar haircut. I think you’ll find it cool and easy to care for during the season of heat and hats.
great minds think and dress alike!
My daffodils were gorgeous (the only thing the deer don’t eat) until they got 4 inches of snow dumped on them last night. They are looking quite sad now. I thought spring was here! Thank you for introducing me to Anthropology. Most of my clothes are classic but I do have an inner Bohemian that pops out every once in a while and Anthropology has just what I need
those pesky deers! and now the snow…but i’m so happy to hear you like Anthropologie. i love them for the exact same reason!
Now orange you glad you bought that great bag? LOL you look so relaxed and ready for for a fun day. Stripes help take away the boredom from a too much solid wardrobe. Love this shirt.
ha ha! and, yes, i love this orange handbag. you will get tired of seeing it be seasons end.
Love that pixie cut! A week ago I bought a similar looking striped top that will be great with white jeans, white shorts and so much more. Your top has nice details.
i think the button details are so dang cute! and i am loving the ease of taking care of my pixie cut.
Love your new hairstyle! Gives you a very fun and youthful vibe. The outfit today is so cheerful and summery and exactly the kind of thing I would wear.
thanks so much! and it’s so easy to take care of.
Luving the new ‘do!! Am waiting for it to warm up a bit here in New England before I take the plunge myself!
hopefully spring-like weather will be back sooner rather than later.
Hi Beth…I agree with eveyone else. This is a very flattering and stylish hairstyle for you. You have a great face for wearing your bangs off the face! Wish mine looked that good.
that is so sweet of you to say! thank you for the lovely compliment.
Love your styles and your new haircut. It gives you another new lift. I just bought a stripe shirt too. Can’t wait to wear it. We are waiting warmer weather. Today it was in the thirties and too cool for spring clothes in the Northeast. Next week looks promising. Thank you for your great outfits ideas.
that was some cold front that moved through! but i’ll take it as I know we’ll soon be hot and hotter.
Love your new”pixie” hair style..very cute and flattering. Nice update!
thanks so much! and it’s so easy to style.
