Yesterday, we took a look at an outfit built with neutral wardrobe staples. When neutrals are staples in your closet, adding a pop of color or a bold print will brighten your look. It’s easy to take a simple outfit to the next level. It will even brighten your mood, as there’s no easier way to bring a smile to your face or enhance your mood than with color.
If you’re apprehensive about adding color to your wardrobe take baby steps. Ease into it with accent pieces. Accessories always add interest to your outfit and give it personality – your personality.
With a change of accessories, you can breathe new life into an outfit you’ve worn again and again. So go ahead and add color to your outfit with a colorful handbag, hat, scarf, or shoes.

Take A Simple Outfit to the Next Level
1. Lido Sculpted Wool Blazer
(Banana Republic)
This time of year I’m always ready to ditch my cashmere sweaters and wool overcoats. February can be dreary and I’m always ready to lighten and brighten my look. Pink is hands down my favorite color. Shades from hot pink all the way to muted pastels are at my beck and call.

2. Cashmere Classic-Fit Crewneck Sweater
(J.Crew)
Two of my all-time favorite color combinations are pink and black or pink and navy. Today, I’m sporting a monochromatic look with black faux leather pants and black sweater from J. Crew. I’m a big fan of faux leather pants as they’re a nice change of pace from denim.

3. Faux Leather Pants
(J.Crew)
Adding a hot pink blazer was a no-brainer and it gives this simple outfit pizazz. Tortoiseshell pumps and a black handbag add texture and visual interest.

Hi Beth, would love it if you could give alternatives to wool and cashmere in your posts. Both those fabrics always look so nice, but there are those of. us out here that can’t wear them.
Love the pink blazer and I’m with you in loving pink!
Just can’t wear wool.
A POP of pink is the perfect antidote for dreary February days. And what a BEAUTIFUL pink jacket, Beth!
Hi Beth
Lovely outfit!!
I want to wear those colors once in a while like you, but I am always afraid,
