mr. style, and i rang in 2017 at the Georgia club feasting on a five-course meal. life was beginning to settle into a pattern as we acclimated to our new home town. and the steep learning curve i’d been on since the inception of the blog began to level out. team members were added: a tech firm to keep the backend running smoothly, a Pinterest specialist, help with navigating Instagram, and we decided to expand to YouTube. lots of things were going on behind the scenes.
Ollie joined our family in 2017, and Fridays with Oscar transitioned to cocktails and recipes. but every day mr. style, and i would head to a photoshoot to share my daily outfit on the blog. that’s what y’all tune into day after day no matter what’s happening on the various social channels: Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube.
pink and black has always been a favorite color combination of mine. and pink is my all-time favorite color, whether it’s blush or hot! add a military-inspired jacket, and this girl is in heaven. the military’s influence with fashion over the decades is profound, and i love to dig into history to learn why and how certain items became iconic like the trenchcoat.

tuesday shoesday was a popular post thanks in part to a silk scarf that added a pop of color. mr. style purchased this Hermès scarf years ago. it’s one of my favorites. the outfit relies on my style formula of denim, flowy blouse, and blazer. tweak the accessories, shoes, and handbag to your liking, and this outfit has staying power year after year.

ebony and ivory rely on the classics: a classic color combination of black and white, classic cashmere crewneck sweater, classic duster, and pointy-toe shoes. but the outfit was kept fresh and modern with the addition of wide-leg pants. it’s important to stay abreast of trends and incorporate them into our closet. and wide-leg pants look good on every body type. yes, even petites. just remember to keep the proportions in line with the outfit.

polka dot rock is a fun weekend outfit that relies on of the moment denim – a frayed hem. add a jazzy pattern like polka dots, knit vest that’s perfect for the workplace or the weekend, and a pair of snake print slingbacks that are one of my all-time favorite shoes. but again, don’t forget to add accessories for a one-two style punch to any outfit. my love of belts runs deep, so i popped a wide belt over my blue jeans. the silver belt buckle cued me into wearing a few silver bangles and silver hoops. see how easy it is to put an outfit together?

many times, women of a certain age think we can’t wear trendy items like over the knee boots. and many of us stick to outdated style rules like covering our arms and knees. i tackled a few of those ageist style rules on a recent YouTube video.
if we want to stay fresh and modern, adding trends into our wardrobe will do just that. over the knee boots look fantastic with a shorter skirt or dress. add an oversized sweater, a colorful ruana, and you’ll step outside to greet the world armed with confidence and a snazzy outfit.

How fun to look back at your lovely outfits. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family.
I have a pair of red (well, wine-colored) OTK boots that look a lot like yours (only mine are fairly flat). I love ’em. You do a good job of including tips with visuals to help with ideas. Well done.
I love your style. I never had a style but am trying to copy you. Thanks for showing your face without makeup. You are Brave!
I lack to style myself because of time constraint. But now I just follow the ready ideas in the blog & that has helped me a lot. Thank you.
