happy memorial day weekend, gang! and happy last sunday in may. next week we’ll usher in one of my favorite months of the year – june. the first blush of summer is upon us. the roses are blooming, weekend getaways looming and let’s not forget wedding season has arrived.
before we bid adieu to the merry month of may let’s recap your favorite blog posts. every month i take a deep dive into the blog analytics. it’s important to me to stay abreast of what resonates with you. are you ready to look back at the content i created for may? in case you were on vacay or taking a hiatus from the internet here’s a peek at what you might have missed.
our oldest son was married this past month. of course, i was on the hunt for the perfect mother of the groom dress. there were three dresses that made the final cut for my mother of the groom dress. the wedding party colors were blues and greens. so i stayed within that color palette. another factor that played into my decision making was that the wedding was held outside in a rustic setting. short dresses are perfect for afternoon weddings. a jumpsuit would be a suitable alternative.
What I Wore to the Rehearsal Dinner
when the sun sets in oregon, it does get a bit chilly. a blazer was a must. when special occasions are on my agenda, i typically shop high-end brands. theory is one of my favorites. known for their classic aesthetic, it’s easy to shop for all of my favorites – blazers, pants, and tees. theory has stand-alone stores. but this brand is also sold at nordstrom and neiman marcus. i found the blazer first then decided on a pair of black pants. black is serviceable and chic so this decision was a no-brainer considering the setting. polka dot slingbacks add a pop of personality. flat shoes were the perfect choice for grassy terrain. as for the top i could have gone either way. shirt or tee. but i finally decided a tee gave a casual chic air to the outfit. it was the perfect choice for a rehearsal dinner held in a rustic setting.
as we slip into the summer months with temps heating up many of us forego spring and summer jackets. whenever i pop one on in july or august there’s bound to be comments or emails “it’s too hot for a jacket!” which leads me to believe there a few of us who think spring and summer jackets collect dust all summer long. of course, if you’re spending time at the pool, lake or beach or simply lounging on a chaise in the hot summer sun you’ll forego this essential third layer. i don’t know about you, but i spend many an hour inside office buildings, malls, restaurants or movie theaters come june, july, and august. and baby it’s cold in there! which is the number one reason i have a selection of lightweight spring and summer jackets hanging in my closet.

Your post today cheered me up as I’ve lost my voice so feeling sorry for myself, hubby on the other hand is having a bit of piece. 😂
