Day 4 of the Windstar Mediterranean Cruise found us in Nice and Monte-Carlo, Monaco. Let me tell you that none of the cities disappointed. If you find yourself in this part of the world, make your way to Monaco and Monte-Carlo. The views are spectacular! And the yachts and cars are on a whole other level!!! But I thoroughly enjoyed walking the streets and alleys of Nice, wandering through the local markets, and admiring the spices, fresh fish, fresh vegetables, and my favorite fresh flowers.
The day-to-day life in Europe is so appealing as the locals make their way every day into town and the market to pick up the makings of lunch and dinner. They’re friends with the local vendors, and I imagine they have their favorite stalls that they make a beeline for on any given day. Europeans also put great thought into their outfits, although they’re anything over the top. Just a smart pair of boots or sneakers paired with denim or trousers and a classic coat with a scarf. Style never has to be complicated, but it is how we present ourselves to the world. If you want to blend in with the European locals, neutrals are the way to go, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of color! I wore one of my all-time favorite color combos - navy and pink - and I can’t tell you how many compliments I received.

It was a blustery day in Nice, especially by the water. That’s when a beanie in pink smoke available in six colors, and a warm pair of matching cable knit gloves come in handy! Both are from the Time and Tru line, available at Walmart. A classic navy puffer jacket never goes out of style and gives warmth without the bulk. This puffer is also from Time and Tru at Walmart, and I was happy to bring it along to Paris. Style is also not dependent on price point when you choose wisely.

I love to mix up my outfits from high-end to low. If your budget allows you to make choices, natural fibers like silk, wool, cashmere, linen, and cotton are investment pieces worth saving up for or shopping the sales. Lower price points are typically made from synthetic fibers such as acrylic, nylon, or polyester. Lots of choices in the 21st century. I’m also a big fan of the Scoop and Free Assembly lines available at Walmart, run by luxury designer Brandon Maxwell. Many of you might remember this classic double-breasted camel coat and beret, which are perfect choices that will keep you looking chic on a cold winter day.

On the other hand, J. McLaughlin is a brand with a higher price point. I’m a big fan of their sweaters, especially the Arlette turtleneck made from cotton, spandex, and modal. J. McLaughlin recently offered 25% off sweaters, which I took advantage of by adding this button turtleneck to my collection. Y’all know pink is my signature color, so how could I resist a pair of pink velveteen jeans available in four colors? A pair of sneakers was the perfect choice for a day of walking, keeping this outfit looking modern and fresh.

Alex and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Monaco and Monte-Carlo and even had time for a glass of champagne and oysters at the cutest outdoor cafe in Monte-Carlo before making our way back to the tour bus. Travel is all about making memories that last a lifetime. I can’t tell you how many of my favorite memories are attached to family trips!
It’s Wednesday, ladies, time to put a smile on someone’s face, including yours!

Hi Beth
A lovely post. It is such a scenic area. Thank you. I like it when you mix it up with the price point of items. You look very chic, and so does Alex. What great memories!
The French Rivierra is a vision of loveliness from every direction! We had a fantastic week that’s for certain!
I like the pink and navy blue together. One of my favorite color combos! It looks great!
I never tire of this color combo! Thanks for stopping by!
I’m going to Spain in February and am curious if you see more people wearing sneakers/athletic shoes in Europe? I know they tend to dress less casual than Americans in general.
I shared in yesterday’s post that lug sole Chelsea boots, combat boots and sneakers are the footwear of choice in Europe. But Europeans don’t dress less casually than Americans. It’s vice versa. Enjoy your trip!
How wonderful; a vacation with your son. That’s priceless. Lovely pictures. So nice of you to share them.
Both of your outfits are just great! You must have a million pieces of clothing, Beth! Do you own all that you model? If so, wow, lucky you!
I have the best job in the world, Nancy, where I share outfit inspiration with you! Merry Christmas!
