We’re continuing this week with our Back to the Basics series.   This month, we’ve talked through the

Today, we’re going to deep-dive into the essential accessories you should have in your wardrobe. I’m gonna break it down into big categories:

  • Jewelry:
    • pearl (or diamond) studs;
    • gold hoops
    • pearl necklace;
    • diamond tennis (or gold) bracelet; and
    • classic watch.
  • Bags:
    • backpack;
    • bowler bag;
    • bucket bag;
    • clutch; and
    • crossbody.

Accessories are the most personalized of anything you can have in your wardrobe, and they let us individualize our daily outfits in fun and often idiosyncratic ways. But that means accessories can generate a lot of controversies:  label and price wars on social channels, anyone? So my goal today is simple: provide you with what I think are the essential accessories you should have in your wardrobe and let you decide on the individual brands or labels that work for you. (Of course, if you have questions, I can steer you in a direction in the comment section below.)

Jewelry

I’ve been around the block once or twice. Here are a couple of high-level tips I’ve picked up along the way:

  • Every woman should build a faux jewelry collection. It takes away a lot of worries, especially when traveling home or abroad. Ever lost a bag at the airport?
  • It’s worth thinking about jewelry as an investment that can hold and appreciate value over time.   Silver, gold, platinum, and (some) gemstones are tried and true hedges against inflation. Just sayin’.
  • Have a daughter or a newly arrived granddaughter? Leave a piece of yourself with them by passing down your most prized necklace or bracelet.

Looking to buy jewelry? Start at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus for a good overview of the landscape. Identify price points and brands that work for you and work your way backwards to individual designers, labels, and brands.

Pearl or diamond studs

Pearl studs are the perfect earrings to wear, whether you are sixteen or sixty. What I love most about pearl studs is that they can go to school, work, or an evening out and still look fabulous. Not everyone is as ga-ga over pearls as I am. But we all know diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Honestly, who doesn’t love diamonds? Especially diamond studs that are simple and chic. If you love an understated yet elegant look, the sparkle from a pair of diamond studs is a perfect choice.

  • Pro tip:  Pearls (and diamonds) are gemstones that can be dressed up or down with ease. In my humble opinion, pearl studs are the go with anything go, everywhere earrings.

Pearl necklace

This timeless classic necklace is the perfect gift for a cherished family member. Every time I pull out my string of pearls, I think of my parents who gifted me my first pearl necklace. Pearls go perfectly with a little black dress as their white iridescent luster bounces off the black for a simple, elegant look. Don’t be afraid to add faux pearls to your collection, a.k.a Jackie Kennedy.

  • Pro tip: Long strands of faux pearls look fantastic layered a la Coco Chanel.

Diamond tennis or gold bracelet

We have Chris Evert to thank for the name of this iconic bracelet. Can you believe she lost her diamond bracelet during a match at the US Open? Play was halted until Chrissy found her precious gems. Afterward, we all rushed out to buy a replica, and the must-have tennis bracelet was born. The simple design is what makes it a classic, with its symmetrical line of diamonds sitting neatly in a row. There are many different sizes when it comes to a tennis bracelet, so there’s definitely one that’s in your budget. I like to keep one real diamond bracelet and one faux in my lineup.

  • Pro tip: I always travel with costume jewelry for a hassle-free trip. There’s never a worry if I lose a bracelet or earrings, or in the rare case, it’s stolen.

Classic watch

There are many beautiful timepieces that could be added to your jewelry box. But the granddaddy of them all is the classic tank watch from Cartier. It’s always been on my must-have list. Mr. Style was a watch aficionado and could rattle off random facts about any and every watch known to mankind. As a matter of fact, all of my classic timepieces (and many of my handbags) were gifted from him. In his eyes, a watch was the ultimate everyday accessory.

Round dials are universally flattering, but I love squares and rectangles too. I know, I know many of us keep time these days with our phones, but a classic watch is a finishing touch that completes your outfit. These days technology has been integrated into timepieces.

Bags

Love, love, love handbags, as do you. I know this because I probably get the single most questions and/or requests to write posts on handbags. Before getting into the nitty-gritty, a few thoughts on handbags:

  • Handbags as investment pieces? Depends on what you mean by “investment”. While some designer handbags hold and appreciate in value, many don’t. But what I mean about “investment” in this context is simple:  unlike your denim, a well-made handbag will last a lifetime. Pro-rated over 2o years, a $400 handbag starts to look a little less expensive.
  • Handbags are the easiest way to add color to an outfit. Many of us shy away from bright colors in our OOTDs.   But handbags allow us subtle flare that can be hidden under the table at lunch.
  • There’s a time and place for every handbag, but not every bag works in every time and place. Think about your day before your outfit when choosing a handbag.

Backpack

Backpacks are ideal for a day out and about or long-term travel. Usually secured with two straps that go over your shoulders, you can just slip one strap over and call it a day.

  • Pro tip:  Backpacks are an easy way to add a color pop to your outfit.

Bowler

Bowler bags have a rounded design and are sometimes referred to as Dr. Bag. They have two straps and are slipped on between the forearm and elbow. They were inspired by the shape of bags used to carry bowling balls. Usually a daytime bag, they are not as versatile as the backpack but are well-pocketed and convenient.

  • Pro-tip:   Pair with riding boots and jeans for an instant classic look.

suede and fall

Bucket bag

Bucket bags typically have a long strap with a round or oval bottom. They’re generally closed with a drawstring or zipper, and can be carried to work or on the weekend.

  • Pro tip:  Style as you would the backpack.

Clutch

The classic small handheld bag:  glams up any outfit with a clutch.

  • Pro tip:  Keep a clutch handy for keys and wallet for quick trips to the store.

Crossbody

Crossbodies have long straps that hang off your shoulder and cross your body, perfect for hands-free activities.
  • Pro tip:  Spending a day out and about with your kiddos or grandkiddos? A crossbody is for you.

We’re continuing this week with our Back to the Basics series.   Last week, we went through the essential tops that every woman should have in their closet.  This week, I’m going to walk through the essential bottoms you should have in your wardrobe. Like I said last week, we’re here to help you establish a wardrobe that’s built on top of the basics.  There’s nothing more important than setting the foundation correctly.  Once it is, shopping your closet becomes that much easier.

Every Sunday this month, we’re going to run an entry in our long-running series:  Back to Basics.  Today, we’re focusing on the most essential bottoms in your wardrobe:

  • skirts;
  • pants; and
  • denim.

We’ll dig down into each category, and I’ll give you examples of essential skirts for example.  The way to read this post is simple:  in each section, I’ve given you photos of different ways I’ve styled that bottom, with an assortment of links from tried and true retailers to shop the item.  Where I could, I’ve also provided links to pasts posts for more pictures and information about that bottom.  Here are the most essential bottoms any woman should have in their wardrobe.

Skirts

Let’s kick things off with skirts.  A couple of years ago, I wrote a complete guide to skirts.   Essential skirts I want to talk about today include the:

  • pencil skirt;
  • a-line skirt;
  • slip skirt; and
  • denim skirt.

Retailers that generally carry these basics are:

Pencil Skirt

Did you know the first pencil skirt was designed by Christian Dior in 1954? The slim-fitting skirt was a dramatic shift away from tight waists and full skirts which had dictated fashion runways for several years.  Pencil skirts can be dressed up or down.  They’re best paired with:

  • sweaters/cardigans;
  • blazers;
  • button-downs.

A-Line Skirt

A-line skirts are a personal favorite. Much like the pencil skirt, the A-line is a simple style that’s flattering to most figures.  Although slimming too, a-line skirts are a nice departure from the curve-hugging pencil skirt.  To start with, look for an a-line skirt in a neutral:  white, black, or grey.   A-line skirts are best paired with:

  • button-downs;
  • tees; and
  • sweaters/cardigans.

Slip Skirt

Slip skirts are no muss, no fuss.  Generally, the slip skirt just slides over your hips—super simple.  I generally wear my slip skirts a bit more formally.  They go best with:

  • blouses;
  • button-downs; and
  • cardigans/sweaters.

Denim Skirt

Every woman should own a denim skirt.  One of the most versatile of all the skirts featured, the denim skirt truly goes with just about everything.  Wear them formally or wear them casually—you truly can’t go wrong.  From a graphic tee to a blouse—you’ll get a lot of mileage out of a denim skirt.  You can start with a traditional blue wash and work your way out to black and white ones too.

Pants

Now on to pants.  Essential pants include:

  • trousers;
  • ankle pants;
  • leggings; and
  • joggers.

Consistently great formal pant retailers include:

If you’re looking for something more casual, check out:

Trousers

Let’s kick things off with a classic pair of trousers.   Trousers are a little more “fun”—a little more “loosey-goosey” than say a pair of straight-leg ankle pants.  When I want to look “put-together” but a little bit more on the casual side, I’m going to go with a pair of trousers.  You can always start with a neutral, but color options can vary wildly with trousers.  Have fun with them, and don’t forget to accessorize.  Add a splash of color with a belt, or pair them with a bomber jacket and impress your kiddos.  You really can’t go wrong here.

Ankle Pants

I love straight-fit ankle pants.  Sleek and elegant, they’re perfect for a night out or a day at the office.  Generally, I dress my ankle pants up, and I try to stick with a neutral: white, black, and/or grey.  Wear them monochromatically, or let them serve as a base in which you add color with your top(s).  Ankle pants are best paired with:

  • cardigans/sweaters;
  • blouses; and
  • button-downs.

Leggings

Comfy, casual, and fun.  Every woman needs a good collection of leggings.  Whether you like the faux leather look; are part of the jeggings revival; or you just want a super-simple pair to lounge in, leggings are an essential basic.  But don’t let their looks deceive you:  leggings can reasonably be dressed up too.  You can pair them with a white button-down or a cashmere cardigan for a more formal look, or you can go super casual and wear them with a tee.  The sky is the limit here.

Joggers

Even before the rise of athleisure wear, joggers were essential to any wardrobe.  I’m loving sweater joggers this season, especially given how cold it’s gotten here in Athens.  But you can’t go wrong with classic or ribbed joggers.  Best paired with:

  • tees;
  • turtlenecks;
  • sweatshirts; or
  • windbreakers

joggers are the backbone of the classic side of your wardrobe.

Denim

Last but not least:  denim.  In our modern world, denim probably makes up the majority of our wardrobe.  Although that’s not true for everybody, a robust denim collection is important for any classic wardrobe.  A few years ago, I put out my definitive denim guide for women.  Head over there if you’re looking for a deep-dive into denim.  Today, we’re focusing on three types of jeans:

  • black jeans;
  • white jeans; and
  • straight-leg jeans.

If you’re looking to beef up your denim collection, you can’t go wrong with these retailers:

Black Jeans

Although denim can always be styled casually, black jeans can definitely serve as go-to formal wear.  A high-rise straight leg or skinny pair is slimming and looks chic when paired with a button-down, turtleneck, or cashmere cardigan.  Let your black jeans serve as your neutral base, and add color with a fall jacket or accessories.

White Jeans

The black jeans counterpart, white jeans work well as formalwear.  Also a neutral base, just like black denim, I love pairing white denim with a camel sweater and/or jacket.  Whether you’re heading back into the office or spending a night out, a pair of white jeans will serve you well.  But just like black jeans, white ones go with anything.  Wear them with a graphic tee in the summer, or a cashmere hoodie in the winter.  You really can’t go wrong.

Not a lot to say about classic straight-leg jeans that hasn’t already been said.  The most versatile pant on this list, you can wear this with just about anything.

In case you missed it

Make sure to check out the first entry in our Back to Basics refresh:  essential tops that every woman should have in their closet.  You’ll find tons of ideas for tops to pair with today’s essential bottoms.

I’m in a bit of a mood today:  “light”,  “youthful”, “vivacious”.  Can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s somewhere in that zip code. All I know is that I wanted my outfit to reflect a sense of “fun”, because sometimes—oftentimes—we’ve gotta create our own levity despite the circumstances around us.  And that’s what I love so much about fashion:  it’s totally possible to reflect outward what we’re feeling on the inside.  And it doesn’t take much:  I want to show you how a simple pair of  Adidas shoes add levity to your outfits and give you that feeling of “youthfulness” I’m feeling.

Wardrobe basics in action

Yesterday on the blog, we talked about the essential tops every woman should have in their wardrobe.  I wanted to show some of those essentials in action today:  I’ve taken a simple green button-down (old, similar J. Crew) and layered it with a black turtleneck (Banana Republic) for a classic wintry look.  I paired the tops with a pair of cropped boyfriend jeans for a simple, casual feel.

Adidas shoes add levity to your outfits

The neutrals of the turtleneck and button-down serve as the perfect backdrop for my Adidas Superstars—a pair I’ve featured on the blog many times.  The Superstars launched in 1969.  They’ve gone through many iterations but have remained the same at their core.  Some true staying power, making them an iconic classic.

Given the state of, well, everything, I wanted to inject a little levity into my outfit today.  So, I rolled up my sleeves, tied off my shirt, and threw on a pair of sneakers.  It’s amazing how a single pair of shoes can change the entire dynamics of your outfit.  Just goes to show you how easy it is to dress an outfit down or back up again.

Imagine the different feelings you could create with this outfit alone by swapping out the Adidas for a pair of boots or a pair of flats?  Goes to show you how little it takes to get that extra mile out of your existing wardrobe.

Daily style tip

A quick daily style tip:  try rolling up your sleeves today to draw attention upward.  Stand up straight to get that little bit of extra length in your spine.  Take a moment to concentrate on your breathing, and imagine those breaths filling the spaces between your spine.   Take that added strength and confidence and use it to face your day.

In case you missed it

Every Sunday this month, we’re getting Back to Basics.  In case you missed it, make sure to check out our first post reset and refresh with a closet cleanse and its companion YouTube video:

Once you’ve cleaned your closet, make sure you’ve got these essential tops in your wardrobe.

One of my goals here at Style at a Certain Age is to help you establish a wardrobe that’s built on top of the basics. With that foundation in place, building new and interesting outfits becomes so much easier.  Without that foundation, well, we’ve all been there.

Every Sunday this month, we’re going to run an entry in our long-running series:  Back to Basics.  Today, we’re focusing on the most essential tops in your wardrobe:

  • classic fit tees
  • crew neck sweater
  • white button-down shirt
  • blazer
  • oversized blazer
  • denim or chambray shirt
  • graphic tee
  • blouse

The way to read this post is simple:  in each section, I’ve given you photos of different ways I’ve styled that top, with an assortment of links from tried and true retailers to shop the item.  Where I’ve could, I’ve also provided links to pasts posts for more pictures and information about that top.  So, without further ado, let’s get down to the most essential tops any woman should have in their wardrobe.

Classic Fit Tees

The foundation of any classic wardrobe is in fact a classic fit t-shirt.  The mighty t-shirt serves as the foundation of any outfit.  Whether you’re using the t-shirt to serve as your first layer; or whether you’re wearing it alone, every classic wardrobe needs at least classic tees in:

  • whites, blacks, and greys;
  • striped; and
  • (additional) neutrals like camel or army green.

All of your favorite retailers are going to carry their version of the classic t-shirt.  But you can’t go wrong with the Gap family:  Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic.

Crewneck Sweater

The crewneck sweater is the backbone of any classic fall and winter wardrobe.  Whether you’re a prepster at heart or something a bit more free-flowing, crewneck sweaters are a must.  Much like a classic t-shirt, crewnecks can serve as the mid-layer of any well-layered outfit.  Wear them on top of a white button-down or a classic t-shirt;  crewnecks pair with just about anything and everything. Again, you’re going to want to establish a wardrobe that includes crewneck sweaters in

  • whites, blacks, and greys; and
  • (additional) neutrals like camel or army green.

And what can be more comfortable than cashmere?  A cashmere crewneck.  Again, your favorite retailer is going to carry a crewneck sweater, but you can’t go wrong with Everlane’s this year.

White Button-Down

The white button-down is just as important as the classic t-shirt.  Wear it alone for a bit of simple elegance, or layer it under a cashmere crewneck.  Dress white button-downs up with a pair of slacks and heels; or dress them down with a pair of boyfriend jeans.  White button-downs can be styled any and every way.   What’s more:  white button-downs are seasonless.  Arguably the most versatile and important top in any classic wardrobe,  start with J. Crew and work your way backward.

Blazer

The blazer is up next, and what more can I say about this staple that I haven’t already said over the years?  When adding blazers to your wardrobe, you’re going to want to start with

  • a classic navy and/or black one; and then
  • a herringbone and/or a houndstooth.

Blazers can be paired with any of the above tops.  Wear it with a classic t-shirt for a more casual look or on top of a white button-down for business chic.  If it’s cold outside where you are, blazers pair can be paired monochromatically with their crewneck counterparts.  Or wear them with a cashmere turtleneck.   The possibilities truly are endless.

Oversized/long Blazer

Oversized blazers have gained more and more popularity in recent years, similar to the rise of boyfriend jeans.  Just like the classic blazer, you’re going to want to start with

  • neutral colors like blues, blacks, and greys.

But because oversized blazers are, well, oversized, you can have a bit more fun with colors like think

  • reds, yellows, and pinks.

When choosing a long blazer, make sure to keep in mind one thing:  proportions.  When wearing an oversized top, you’re going to want to pair that blazer with a slimmer-fitting bottom.  I’m loving Everlane’s oversized black blazer this year, but you can’t go wrong with their glen plaid one either.

Denim/Chambray Shirt

A chambray shirt is a must-have in your classic closet. It’s just as versatile as a white button-down:  pair it with a black pair of denim or go full Canadian tuxedo and wear it monochromatically.  Denim shirts work well with any neutral layering scheme.  Try it under a white sweater; or wear it with a camel blazer.  And don’t be afraid to let a good chambray shirt stand alone on its own two feet.

Any of your favorite retailers are going to carry a classic-fit chambray shirt.  But you cannot go wrong with Gap’s perfect denim one.

Graphic Tee

Ok, ok.  I’m sure you’re asking, “are graphic t-shirts really classic tops?”  Yes ma’am, indeed they are.  Just like the long/oversized blazer, the graphic t-shirt is no longer a trend:  they just are part of any well-built, classic wardrobe.  Graphic tees are where we get to let our hair down a little bit and have some fun.  (And remember, “classic” is not synonymous with “boring”.)  Just like classic t-shirts, graphic ones can serve as the first layer of your outfit:  wear them under a blazer for a fun, chic look.  Or wear them alone with your favorite denim.

Companies like the Gap have innovated the classic t-shirt, making it a staple of their seasonal lines.   If you’re looking for something a little bit more on-trend, don’t forget Urban Outfitters.

Blouse

Ah, yes.  I would be remiss if I didn’t include the blouse to close things out.  Any and every woman should own a handful of blouses.   Just like t-shirts, crewnecks, and blazers, we’re going to want to start with

  • neutrals like blue, black, and grey; and
  • work our way outwards towards plaids, prints, and more colorful options.   (Are you sensing a theme yet?)

Just like the white button-down, blouses are seasonless and pair with just about everything.  Wear them alone with an A-line skirt or your favorite pair of slacks.  Dress them up with a blazer, or dress them down with a pair of distressed denim, the possibilities are again limitless.  If you’re looking to incorporate some new blouses into your wardrobe, start with J.Crew or the Banana Republic.  They’re both tried and true;  you cannot go wrong.

Essential Tops in Your Wardrobe

Alright ladies, those are essential tops every woman should have in their wardrobe.  Think I missed one?  Make sure to let me know in the comments below.

In case you missed it

Last weeks’ closet cleanse will help you audit your wardrobe as you look to introduce the basics like the tops we discussed above.

as we enter the dog days of summer, i wanted to go back through the archives to highlight some of my favorite summertime looks. one thing i noticed is that most of my favorite laid back summer outfits all incorporate at least one wardrobe basic. it just goes to show that some wardrobe staples outlast the trends year after year. this is classic style. the three summer basics i selected for today’s retrospective are: the mighty blazer, the classic button up and summer-friendly denim. if you peruse the blog going back to the beginning, you will regularly see these items styled in new ways season after season. so sit back, and enjoy my summer basics in white retrospective.

my favorite J.Crew summer tops

this linen blazer was last seen here, but it has and will be on repeat all summer long. this blazer is the perfect weight for hot summer temps. and it’s white, which goes with everything. like this cute summer top in my favorite color – pink.

while this post was originally about J.Crew summer tops, the white blazer is a basic that just pulls a summer outfit together with ease and panache. a white blazer in linen or cotton is my go-to when i need to add a bit of sophistication to any outfit.

summer neutrals

anyone else notice the days are getting shorter? this past week when i was walking with oscar, it hit me that summer is fleeting. it was around eight o’clock in the evening and the skies were beginning to turn gray. it’s almost imperceptible from day to day, but the sun is now distinctly lower in the sky come evening. if time is fleeting, then i’m pulling out the summer neutrals while i can. and nothing beats monochromatic white with tan thrown in for good measure. there is something so crisp and clean about white.

you no doubt know the value of a crisp white button up in your closet. it’s something i talk about often on the blog. it’s such a versatile basic. i could pair these shorts with a different style of white shirt, but the classic button up really makes this whole outfit chic and sophisticated.

summer slides

this time of year it’s all about transitioning from summer to fall. what better way to do that than with a year-round go-to: white denim. looser fitting boyfriend jeans are perfect for hot summer days. i tend to cuff my boyfriend jeans a tad higher – it just works. with a casual chic outfit. a simple white tee keeps the look fresh and summery.

white denim is such a pop of brightness on these august days. i love to mix white and khaki in the summer. and if i lose the jacket, i have another monochromatic white ensemble. there’s just something so easy breezy with an all white outfit.

summer basics are best in neutral tones. white basics for summer are a no-brainer in my book. consistently on stye-repeat, basics in classic white will be your trusty go-to in all seasons, but perhaps feel most refreshing in these last weeks of summer. today’s post highlights three examples that perfectly illustrate my five tips on how to look effortlessly chic and elegant. we posted a video on this very subject yesterday, check it out!

all right, ladies, it’s Sunday which means another installment from my series back to the basics. what are those items that are considered core closet essentials? and why do we need them? when you think about building your wardrobe’s foundation it should start with those items you can pair with anything else in your closet to create an outfit. that’s the goal, creating outfits. each and every day we need to get up and head out the door fully clothed. right? so why not make that task a little easier? the number one reason you stand in your closet and think you have nothing to wear is a lack of those wardrobe essentials or the basics. so that new dress or that skirt or shirt you just bought you don’t have the shoes, clutch or jacket to go with it. it’s almost impossible to put your wardrobe together without the basics.

remember, your clothes should look pretty hanging on a hanger but they also need to work for you. think of core essentials as the connecting piece that two tie two garments together. and they’re neutrals: black, white, nude/camel, and grey. navy is also neutral. build your basics with different styles to add variety and give you more options. a white crewneck tee doesn’t flatter your figure? go ahead and add a v-neck. think your full figure can’t pull off a white button down? try a white button blouse with a relaxed fit. or better yet a flattering wrap blouse. the goal of building your wardrobe with core pieces is to have a closet that functions from day-to-day, month-to-month, and season-to-season.

essential winter outerwear

if you have missed any of the previous ‘back to basics’ posts they are listed in order: closet cleanse, back to basics tops, back to basics bottoms. today, we’re talking about essential winter outerwear.

jean jacket

yes, once again denim makes the list. this time as a jacket. look for dark rinse, light rinse, oversized or fitted. for summer add a denim vest for variety. wear your jean jacket with a white tee and white denim and roll the sleeves for a casual look.

or how about a jean jacket with a dress and sandals? that works too. it also looks great in the fall paired with a flannel shirt and cable knit sweater.

blazer

personally i like a tailored black blazer. but a deconstructed blazer has a looser fit and feels like you’re wearing an oversized sweater.

blazers look stylish popped over a cocktail dress or boyfriend jeans and a tee. how about a pair of shorts? can you say versatile?

trenchcoat

 what an iconic statement piece. the classic khaki trenchcoat hails all the way back to WWI.

according to Wikipedia:

During the First World War, the design of the trench coat was modified to include shoulder straps and D-rings. The shoulder straps were for the attachment of epaulettes or other rank insignias; There is a popular myth that the D-ring was for the attachment of hand grenades. The ring was originally for attaching map cases and swords or other equipment to the belt. This latter pattern was dubbed “trench coat” by the soldiers in the front line. Many trench coats had large pockets for maps and cleverly placed flaps and vents to deal with the odor associated with earlier rubber coats. A range of waterproof coats was designed and sold during wartime that incorporated War Office requirements with traditional aspects of leisurewear. What became known as the ‘trench coat’ combined the features of a military waterproof cape and the regulation greatcoat designed for British officers.

a classic way to wear a trench is unbuttoned and the belt tied at the waist. or tie the belt in the back for variety. who doesn’t like choices?

utility jacket

this little baby is a hard-working transition piece in those early days of fall and spring when the weather can be unpredictable. wear it with a feminine skirt. they say opposites attract. a long-sleeve stripe tee is the perfect companion to a utility jacket.

to me a leather jacket works just like a blazer but with an edge. drape it over a dress for evening or wear it with your favorite pair of blue jeans. either way, it works!
