the race is on, ladies, but the finish line is in sight. and i think i just might come in under the wire. all that’s left on my to-do list is pick up a few stocking stuffers. and buy a special something for mr. style. why is it that he’s always the last person i shop for? it was the same with my dad. maybe because it’s hard to shop for someone who claims they have everything they need… well, as they say, “when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!” at least, that’s my version of the adage.
the weather decided to play nice today. that forecasted rain wasn’t delivered until later tonight, so it was easy to navigate the stores with this cute little number from talbots. checked blazer and denim skirt. notice the ruffle on the blazer. this detail gives a modern vibe and keeps this ootd looking current and up-to-date. yet undeniably classic. denim skirts are a great alternative to blue jeans, and i always seem to add one more to my collection each year. maybe two if it’s as cute as this button skirt. spoiler alert. the cashmere sweater and suede boots from j.crew are several years old.

One of the things that first attracted me to your “style” was your very classy and well kept hairstyle. Please bring it back 🙂
hi suzanne!
thanks so much for sharing your opinion. one thing is for certain, if you follow the blog long enough you’ll notice i switch hairstyles frequently. sometimes it’s shorter then a bit longer. some readers like it this way and some that way.even mr. style likes it a certain way. but no matter what i have a fab stylist that keeps me at the top of my game no matter what length or style. and change is good for the soul.

I cannot tell a lie, I did break down and purchase this little jacket myself–I got such a good deal on it-and I’m thoroughly enjoying it as well. You look great. I am way behind you in the readiness dept for the holidays, but slowly I’m getting things done. Have a wonderful holiday! We’ll have a house full and lots of fixing still to get to, but I love this time of year.
it truly is the most wonderful time of year. mainly because those near and dear to us are home!
a very merry christmas to you and yours, sue.

The yellow with this jacket is perfect. I love to incorporate bright colors during the winter and you do that very well. Unfortunately this jacket is no longer available in my size but I have multiple other Talbot’s jackets (they are the best) and this post inspires me to try some fresh pairings.
a bright color on a gloomy day just helps us power through! and you can never go wrong with a blazer from talbots. they last for years.

Great look, I especially like the gold belt denim combo. It’s kind of a hi/lo look and it works.
awww, you noticed the belt! this is one of my favorites and i love to wear it every chance i get.

follow you daily and love most everything. one thing i have noticed lately are your glasses. yet you have never mentioned the frames and the designer. would you care to share the name of the frames? thanks and merry Christmas!
