transitioning from one season to the next can be tricky. the temps bounce from cold to hot then chilly. and, yes, many of us run from house to car to office and squeeze by without an extra layer or two for as long as we can. but once september rolls into town that pink linen skirt or your favorite white sundress just don’t work! sigh.

Usually fall is pretty clear here. September arrives, and with it, overnight frost. This year, transitional dressing is the question. Days are summer hot, with a slight chill in the morning. It’s definitely too hot for fall sweaters, boots and tights. I’m clinging to summer this time around, so switching up colors and adding lightweight layers is the way to go.
when we lived in hot climates i would switch the color palette from pinks and whites to olives and khaki. but i’d still be wearing shorts. just different colors.

awww, thanks so much! you just made my day.

So true: black and white are always go-to’s. That combo solves a lot of problems, and you can always interject color with them, if you want more than that. It’s very true–neutrals are excellent for season transitional pieces. You look fabulous in all of these.
i’ve always said that black and white is always all right! and it’s true.

All the outfits are great but the black and white trench takes it out of the ballpark. Stunning!
I agree! Never thought about neutrals being natural for transition but that is a great tip Beth.
neutrals are perfect any time of year but translate well in between seasons.

thanks, nina! that trench was purchased for one of my son’s high school graduation. so it has a memory attached to it. but i love it just as much today as i did ten years ago.
