September is a busy month with lots of travel on the agenda. I’m headed to NYC today to attend a YouTube event on Thursday. But when I visit New York, I always like to add a play or musical to my trip. Wednesday evening, I’m seeing MJ, a 4x Tony award-winning hit! I can’t wait. I’m also meeting a fellow YouTuber, Style by Serena, at Thursday’s event, and we’re planning dinner afterward. Then I’m headed home on Friday. It’s a whirlwind trip, so I doubt I’ll have time to go shopping, but you never know. I may be able to squeeze in a fast trip to Bloomingdale’s, my favorite retailer. Read on to see what I am wearing in NYC for my Fall trip, and get my travel tips & tricks.
The week of September 15th, I’ll be in Tybee enjoying the last few days of summer. A dear friend from my Houston days will join me, and we always have a ball. We plan a shopping day in Savannah with lunch at The Pink House. Sunday, we have reservations for brunch at the popular restaurant, The Grey. At the end of the month, I fly to Rome to catch the Windstar Cruise that will set sail on October 1st. I added a day to Rome and Venice. I have tickets to the Vatican and plan on shopping near the Spanish Steps. And who can resist a Gondola Ride in Venice?!
But the leaves start to change this time of year, and the air turns crisper; early fall in New York City is a magical time. However, with unpredictable weather and varying temperatures throughout the day, choosing the right outfit can be a bit tricky. Here are some tips on what to wear to help you navigate the streets of NYC comfortably and stylishly during this beautiful season.

Fall in NYC can bring warm afternoons and chilly evenings, so layering is essential. Consider the following:
Lightweight Tops: Start with a breathable blouse or a long-sleeved shirt. Fabrics like cotton or linen are great for warmth without being too heavy.
Sweaters and Cardigans: A cozy sweater or a cardigan can be easily added or removed depending on the temperature. Opt for styles that are easy to pack away or tie around your waist.
Jackets: A versatile jacket is a must. Denim jackets, bomber jackets, or a light trench coat work well. If you prefer a more polished look, a tailored blazer adds sophistication while keeping you warm.

With the temperature transition, you'll want to choose bottoms that provide comfort and style:
Jeans: A classic pair of jeans is always a good option. Consider a darker wash for a more autumnal feel.
Trousers: If you're aiming for a chic look, tailored trousers or wide-leg pants are in vogue and can be dressed up or down.
Skirts and Dresses: Midi skirts and long-sleeved dresses are beautiful choices for cooler weather. Pair them with tights to fend off the chill.

Walking is one of the best ways to explore NYC, so comfortable footwear is crucial:
Boots: Ankle boots or knee-high boots can keep your feet warm and trendy. Choose styles with good arch support for all-day wear.
Sneakers: For a more casual look, stylish sneakers are perfect. They're comfortable for walking and can be paired with almost any outfit.
Accessories can elevate your outfit while providing extra warmth:
Scarves: A lightweight or chunky knit scarf can add both style and warmth.
Hats: A chic beret or a beanie can not only complement your outfit but also keep your head warm as temperatures drop.
Bags: Choose a stylish and practical crossbody bag or backpack. Look for something spacious enough to carry your layers if you get too warm.
Early fall in NYC is all about balancing comfort with style as the city embraces the season's beauty. By layering, choosing suitable fabrics, and effectively accessorizing, you can enjoy everything New York offers while looking fabulous. So step out in confidence and make the most of your early fall adventures in the Big Apple!
There are always lots of questions about my luggage. I travel with the Delsey Chatelet Collection and couldn’t be more pleased with the set! There are multiple sizes for luggage and they feature backpacks and totes as well. I often bring my 28” Check-In Spinner if I anticipate photo shoots.
And I always bring my laptop computer on trips. This Tory Burch Zip Tote is the perfect size to fit my laptop as well as the leather laptop envelope I like to slip it into for protection when I’m traveling.
I also pack travel-size skincare from Colleen Rothschild. The set comes with seven essential skincare products and its own travel bag! For a little extra something The Exploration Collection offers four skincare goodies that will come in handy on your trip.
Packing cubes help you stay organized. They come in different sizes from extra small to large. Use packing cubes to separate lingerie from swimsuits or your tops from your bottoms. Calpak is a durable choice that’s available at Nordstrom but Amazon carries tons of packing cubes for a bargain.
A good toiletry bag is a godsend. Hanging toiletry bags are quite popular. I have a monogrammed set from Mark & Graham that includes a cosmetics case and travel pouch.
Stock up on your favorite beauty products that come in mini sizes. That way your cosmetic bag is always ready to throw in your suitcase at a moment’s notice. But a great makeup/cosmetic bag is a must! For some reason, I was always forgetting to pack my makeup brushes until I purchased this makeup bag that has a special pouch for brushes. It also has adjustable dividers and a shoulder strap.
Organizing medication, supplements, and vitamins has never been easier than with a pill case
Don’t forget to invest in jewelry boxes to easily stash your jewelry. I travel with a hard case and/or roll-up jewelry pouch.
Travel Tip:
Keep your tech essentials within easy reach with a leather charger rollup. Headphones, charging cords, etc… need to be accessible while traveling. Am I right?!
Never leave home without a portable charger.
