Happy Wednesday, Ladies! Today we are taking a look at three of the wardrobe essentials to have in your closet. These are hard-working essentials that often get overlooked because of their utilitarianism. We will look at the versatile tee shirt; the importance of a well-fitting bra as your foundation; and comfortable, relaxing sleepwear.

Wardrobe Essentials: Tees, Bras, and Sleepwear
Wardrobe Essentials – Tees
Dress it up or down, a tee shirt can be one of the hardest working items in your closet. Keep the neutrals on hand with white, gray, and black in a crewneck, v-neck, scoop neck, or bateau neck.
But don’t forget stripe tees, especially this time of year. And definitely add whimsy to your wardrobe with a graphic tee. They look fantastic underneath cardigans, jean jackets, and moto jackets.

Tees can also play a great part in your ensemble when you’re trying out a trend. Keeping things simple on top can ease you into wearing (and feeling comfortable) in a new-to-you style.

Wardrobe Essentials – Bras
Having the right foundation garment for your outfit is an important piece of your ensemble. Whether it’s a strapless bra for a one-shoulder top, a racerback bra for a tank or halter top, or a t-shirt bra for creating a smooth silhouette under your tee, having a comfortable, well-fitting bra is absolutely essential.
I suggest a twice-yearly bra-fit session. All reputable department stores from Neiman Marcus to Nordstrom to J.C. Penney have trained bra-fit specialists that will equip you with proper measurements – it’s a service they offer at no charge to their customers. Why twice a year? because in the space of six months, our bodies may have changed.
Every three months I shop for this wardrobe essential. Bras are one of the hardest working items in our closet. We need lift and support every single day – yes, even A cups!
A push-up or plunge bra is perfect underneath special occasion wear. This is the bra that gives a nice lift and adds a bit of cleavage. Next on my list is a minimizer. Many of you may not need this type, but if you are a C cup or larger this is the bra to reach for if you wear button-up shirts. It keeps you in place and your buttons fastened without tugging! Last but not least is the t-shirt bra that gives smooth coverage with its molded cups.

For tricky summer styles like a halter top, I reach for a t-back or racer-back bra and a strapless bra. I know, I know, strapless bras never stay in place. But I put Wacoal’s halo lace strapless bra to the test. It holds up beautifully in all the right places while giving shape, and it comes with convertible straps.

Wardrobe Essentials – Sleepwear
Whether you’re retired, work from home, or just enjoy lounging in you PJs, it’s my hunch that since the pandemic, we might be more conscientious about our sleepwear. Having a set of pajamas in a fun print or color; a soothing, cooling, or crisp material can provide a sense of comfort and ease – and can be just as important for feeling good as your day-to-day outfits.
There’s no reason you shouldn’t love what you wear to bed!

Wardrobe Basics: A Black Blazer Styled for Summer
Upon your advice in a previous post, I refreshed my bras recently. I had a fitting at Dillard’s. I was surprised to learn that I was a 32 rather than 36 with a larger cup size. Got Wacoal, your favorite brand, and love them.
Having the right bra makes all the difference in the world! I bet you feel like a million bucks! You can never go wrong with Wacoal!
I too recently had a bra fitting and found out Iโm a 36 A+ rather than a 34 B. My bras in my new size are much more comfortable! By the way, Beth, which outfit did you end up wearing to the Barbie movie? Would love to know ๐
Iโd love to upgrade my pjs but have no luck with bottoms that arenโt way too short! Iโm not a very large person (114 lbs and five feet tall) but canโt seem to find short bottoms that actually cover my rear. A two inch inseam is way too short for me. If you run across longer boxer style bottoms please share!
