wheels up! let the florida trip commence. several months ago, K.Hovnanian Four Seasons Parkland graciously invited me to tour their active lifestyle community and attend a classic car show. sounds fun, right? during the trip i will learn about all aspects of their resort style living and report back to you. there are always emails that land in my inbox asking about selling the family home and downsizing then scratching their head – now what? anyhoo, mr. style is tagging along with me so our bags are packed, and we’re ready to go. follow along with me on Instagram for all of the behind the scenes action.
today, i’m not only sharing my airport style with you but what i packed for florida. it’s a jam-packed five days with a very precise agenda that includes drinks at HMF, saturday shopping, champagne brunch, dinner with a view, and a day at the beach. plus, i always pack one classic pant or shorts. in this case, shorts won hands down. guess what color? ding, ding, ding – they’re white. one stripe tee and one black tee also found their way inside my suitcase, so i can mix and match to my heart’s content with blue jeans or white shorts.
since i recently incurred a leg injury and wearing a compression sock during the day, i’m traveling in a pair of comfy boyfriend jeans similar here that easily slide over my sock. typically, i travel with slip-on shoes, but today i switched to sandals similar here to keep things easy on my leg and foot. a zesty floral tee in my favorite colors is a perfect choice for florida. and a cute white denim jacket that has been on summer repeat will keep those frigid airport temps at bay.
denim | tee | jacket | similar sandals | similar tote | sunglasses
first up is drinks at HMF. black cigarette pants similar here and cobalt blue blouse will help me keep my cool while sipping a martini. stripe shoes similar here add a bit of glam without the glitz.
for a champagne brunch, i chose a fun and flirty maxi skirt and matching top. just last week the top was featured on the blog with white denim. and the skirt would look fabulous paired with a simple white tee or blouse. white sandals similar here seemed like a sensible choice.
saturday includes time for a quick shopping spree. white chinos, silk button down and green flats similar here will keep me on the move in style.
a striped jumpsuit and white flats similar here are all i need to help me keep my cool when i tour K.Hovnanian Four Seasons. love the wide-legs and vertical stripes.
what va-cay is complete without one night out on the town? this cute skirt similar here was one of my ‘finds’ on our recent trip to St. Simon’s Island. the skirt has a high waist, so a cropped top is the perfect companion to show off all the fun details of this skirt. i just love those gold snap buttons! metallic kitten heel sandals polish off the outfit.
yes, even a jam-packed vacation needs some downtime. and what better way to recharge than at the beach? or pool? maybe both! a tankini with a long top and cute bottoms have jazzy metallic accents, slip-on sandals similar here, hat similar here, and a straw handbag are all i need to hit the surf in style. yes, i have a cover-up too but you’ll just have to wait until next week for a peek.
last but not least, sweet dreams are indeed a necessity so why not slip into an adorable pair of pajamas and jazzy robe while i’m lounging around the hotel suite?
okay gang, that about wraps up today’s post. it’s time to get this trip started!

You’ll be right in my backyard! 🙂 Bring an umbrella, it’s going to rain the entire week and weekend 🙁
thanks, linda! dodging raindrops today but all in all the weather held. xo
Seven pairs of shoes for 5 days? Seems a little overboard for me. I prefer to pack a little lighter.
can a woman ever pack enough shoes?
I think it’s smart to take a variety of shoes when you have a leg injury. Usually this means changing shoes throughout the day for comfort (although some Keds or sneakers would probably have found their way into my bag; I need some ankle support). Packing with lightweight summer clothes means more room in your suitcase. Fall/winter clothes are bulkier and definitely restrict your packing choices.
i did switch to tennis shoes for the flight! i could finally bend my leg so slipped into a comfy pair.
xo
Take care of that ankle so you can step back in those fabulous outfits!
thank you! i’m happy to report it is on the mend. xo
Have fun! Looks like you’re set with your wardrobe. Hope your leg does ok–take good care!
my leg is on the mend, Sue! just in time. xo
I would love to see a segment on packing several outfits for a weeks trip. What size suitcase do I need?
thanks for the idea! xo
Wow – love everything you packed. You’re gonna be the best dressed there. So many great options.
awww, thanks, lorena! we had a ball in sunny florida. it was supposed to rain but we just had brief showers no downpours. xo
